There’s good news, holiday shoppers! We’ve got a landslide of queer titles this week plus one hot mess!
Lindsay Lohan and porn star James Deen headline the much buzzed-about The Canyons, while porn star Michael Lucas illuminates the queer side of Israel in Undressing Israel: Gay Men in The Promised Land.
Peyote (above) and Longing Nights follow a pair of young Mexicans on a road trip and quartet of frisky twentysomethings in Madrid, respectively, while West Hollywood serves as the setting for gays-over-40 series Old Dogs & New Tricks. Finally, “cockumentary” Unhung Hero humorously probes the issue of just how much size matters.
($29.99 Blu-ray, $24.99 DVD: IFC Films)
Written by gay scribe Brett Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader, this hot mess – the cray-cray production of which received an awesome NY Times story – features porn star James Deen and Lindsay Lohan as Christian and Tara, a trust funded would-be producer and his former model girlfriend, respectively. Both characters are having affairs on the side. Can they all find happiness amongst all the sex and Hollywood social climbing? Does it matter? (judging from the critic reviews… not so much). Extras include two brief featurettes.
($24.99 DVD; Breaking Glass Pictures)
Teenager Pablo finds himself drawn to a slightly older guy, Marco, and when the pair embark on a road trip to find peyote in the desert, they find something more… Includes behind the scenes footage.
Undressing Israel: Gay Men in the Promised Land
($19.99 DVD; Breaking Glass Pictures)
Outspoken gay porn icon and activist, Michael Lucas, turns documentarian with this exploration of queer life in Israel. Featuring interviews with politicians, gay dads, and many more plus a delve into the Tel Aviv nightlife scene. Extras include a commentary and film festival Q&A session.
($24.99 DVD; Breaking Glass Pictures)
In Madrid, a quartet of twentysomethings of various genders and sexual orientations dabble in drugs, sex, and relationships. Stylish and sexy – what else do you want?
($17.99 DVD; Breaking Glass Pictures)
After his girlfriend turns down his marriage proposal due to his having a small penis – yes, women can be size queens too – actor/comedian Patrick Moote travels the globe in search of answers and self-discovery, meeting with the likes of Dan Savage. Touted as the world’s first “cockumentary,” this is entertaining stuff! Extras include deleted and extended scenes, interviews, and a commentary track.
($19.99 DVD; Wolfe Video)
The first two seasons of the entertaining web series about gay life over 50 in West Hollywood are compiled here. Expect satire, truth, and cameos from the likes of Greg Louganis and Terri Garber. Extras include a behind the scenes featurette and gag reel.

“Undressing Israel” looks interesting. Those boys do not look like they have any trouble getting dates. Well, except for the loser in the black t-shirt (second form the left.)

No mention of that last Breaking Bad set coming out?
Queerty is really on top of culture and all that.

Michael Lucas makes good porn, but he’s a bigot and an ass. He thinks that because Israel gives equal rights and Gay Pride parades to queers, it’s just fine if they treat Palestinians like garbage. I guess we could have overlooked the Holocaust if the Nazis hadn’t shut down the gay nightclubs in Berlin and rounded up all the queers.

@jwtraveler:
I, too, was thinking along the same line.
Not about Lucas because I don’t have the knowledge that you seem too but about the gay boys whooping it up while Israel steals land from Palestinians.
With that said, I do realize that not every citizen is responsible for their governments actions….sure not the case with me and the USA.
With Israel it’s as President Carter said…..apartheid, plain and simple.
