Just how much do you know about Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes? The 18-year-old pop star best known for the hit single “Stitches” was recently interviewed by Flaunt magazine, and gamely decided to participate in a shirtless photoshoot for the publication.

“Love is probably the strongest emotion that you can feel,” he told the interviewer. “It’s very natural—and I wouldn’t want to say easy—but natural and comfortable to write about, and there’s so many different forms of it, millions of layers, you could write forever about it.”

For me he has the most beautiful body in music: long legs, narrow hips, broad shoulders with developed but not ridiculously-over-developed muscles. We’ve become so used to the bulging, totally unrealistic gym muscles on Nick Jonas (I’d kill to sleep with him), I’m sure he looks he “skinny” to most of you, but to me he looks nearly perfect.

Wow, he’s certainly evolved since first coming onto YouTube a few years ago. I guess puberty (and a PR team) does things to a boy’s body. His muscles are now defined and his underarms now have hair. I’m indifferent to his music but I really liked his aw-shucks interview on Nightline, especially the reaction to opening for Taylor Swift. Seemed like a really well-adjusted humble guy. Very different from that other Canadian teen idol, Justin Bieber, with whom he’s constantly compared. Bieber was always brash, even when he wasn’t the mess he is now. Hopefully, fame won’t change Mendes.
