Looking back 2016

Let’s take a peek back at this year’s weirdest political sex scandals

There’s nothing we love more than a juicy political sex scandal. And, lucky for us, this year offered up plenty! From filthy phone sexing governors, to strip poker playing mayors, to naked people impersonating dead presidents and terrorizing quiet suburban communities, 2016 just kept on giving. We can hardly wait to see what 2017 has in store.

Let’s take a peek back at this year’s weirdest political sex scandals…

The young Republican politician who sexted a Catholic school boy

Republican lawmaker Mike Yenni of Louisiana made headlines after he admitted to sending “inappropriate text messages” to a 17-year-old Catholic school boy who he met at a high school graduation luncheon. Yenni, a 40-year-old married father of one with a second baby on the way, was also accused of giving the boy sexy $75 underpants, kissing him in a mall bathroom, and trying to arrange a threesome with him and another teenager. Despite acknowledging that he did, indeed, sext with the male youth, Yenni insists he’s not attracted to men (or boys).

The small town mayor who exchanged meth for sex

The mayor of Fairfax City, Virginia, Richard “Scott” Silverthorne, was busted after offering meth to undercover cops in exchange for sex. He was arrested and charged with distribution of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. A week later, he resigned, blaming the whole incident on an emotional tailspin he was in after being diagnosed with cancer. “My faith in God and myself will get me through the biggest challenge of my life,” he said. “I ask that people keep me in their prayers.”

Alabama’s dirty talking antigay governor

Gov. Robert Bentley of Alabama made everyone throw up in their mouths after audio of his phone raunchy sex session with a much younger female staffer was leaked to the media. “Baby, lemme tell you what we’re gonna have to do tonight: Start locking the door,” 73-year-old Bentley, who once referred to gay marriage as a “social experiment,” purred to the woman. “If we’re gonna do what we did the other day, we’re gonna have to start locking the door!”

The masked Ronald Regan naked creeper

OK, this one isn’t about a politician, but rather someone impersonating a politician. Residents of the peaceful suburb of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, were terrorized at the beginning of the year by a naked man creeping around their neighborhood wearing nothing but a rubber Ronald Reagan mask. The man was caught on surveillance video. Despite receiving multiple calls, police were never able to locate him.

The “family values” politician who played strip poker with teen boys

Mayor Anthony Silva of Stockton, California was arrested in August for allegedly playing strip poker with a group of teenagers, including a 16-year-old boy and two 19-year-old men. The 41-year-old “family values” conservative politician who once gave the key to the city to God was charged with a felony of recording confidential communications, and three misdemeanors: contributing to the delinquency of a minor, furnishing alcohol to a person under 21 and child endangerment.

The naughty Skyping senator from Nebraska

Sen. Bill Kinter of Nebraska, who is morally opposed to gay marriage and gay adoption, doesn’t think trans people should have any rights, and is a proponent of religious freedom laws that permit businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ customers, was busted for having a Skype jackoff session on his state-issued computer with women he just met back in August. After the woman tried blackmailing him (for a measly $4,500), Kinter went crying to police. And when the public got wind of the scandal, he refused to resign, insisting, “I am right where God wants me to be.”
