Following Ryan Lochte’s emotional apology for his “exaggerated” story about being robbed at gunpoint at a gas station in Rio, all four of his corporate sponsors unceremoniously dropped the athlete on Monday.

Lochte reacted to the news with his own terse statement:
I respect Speedo’s decision and am grateful for the opportunities that our partnership has afforded me over the years. I am proud of the accomplishments that we have achieved together.”
Twitter’s peanut gallery was quick to leap on the news, sharing song parodies, faux news articles, and an awesome (albeit fake) interview with Stephen Colbert:
@foxandfriends @FoxNews This lesson is what Lochte needs to get his act together Lying whether your drunk or sober isn’t acceptable

R Lochte should’ve taken a page from @HillaryClinton‘s playbook and explained the reason he lied was he “short circuited” or something

Ryan Lochte is a spoiled brat and I’m glad he’s getting what he deserves. Hit ’em where it hurts the most, his wallet.

Interesting that of all the available Twitter comments Queerty could have chosen you decided to publish the anti-Clinton ones.
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
Why does Queerty need to regurgitate non-LGBT related news items that can be found EVERYWHERE else and employing more robust journalistic values. Please concentrate on regurgitating glitter fluff and advertorial. TIA
PRINCE OF SNARKNESS aka DIVKID
…Oh and straight boys..can’t forget the straight boys. How could we…its unthinkable to forget them
Stache
Doesn’t matter. He’s still worth 6 million. Ryan will be fine.

Yeah Prince of Snarkness, somebody at Queerty has a serious boner for or serious dislike for him and has decided that anything to do with him is newsworthy.
Ken A.
This isn’t news. This is reading accounts on other news sites and commenting. I’ve not seen an ounce of professional journalism on Queerty, To me its like the gay version of the Onion. Fun but not to be taken seriously.
He BGB
Hahahaha. He dyed his hair back brown to try the old “librarian look” trick that defendants do in court like Jodi Arias to look innocent. He did the platinum thing to stand out in Rio. Surprised he didnt wear glasses. Look at the other 3 guys he was with, they all had reddish brown hair like his so he had to stand out! What a diva! He didn’t really apologize. He should have said he LIED but he never did. He just made a stupid mistake. YOU LIED! Hahahaha.
Pete
Gays will give him a pass because he’s cute
Transiteer
Gad to hear. Total Jerk.
Jeduc
“It’s better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission”….once again he probes his shitty mind.
CWM85
I don’t get the coverage of a non gay issue of a non gay man, publicly.
robho3
Karma is a bitch. This guy is dumb as a doornail. I mean the man is 32 and still doing jevenille shut little he did. …
Dymension
I think he got what he deserved.
Me2
Stupid jock does a stupid thing and gets semi-punished. End of story. Can Queerty move on now? He’s not gay and there’s no gay slant to his lies or his stupidity, so my guess is that Queerty’s only interest in him is his looks. LET IT GO.
Sluggo2007
32 going on 12.

The “privileged” twink brought this on himself. I do hope a follow up is done on the ones who tried to assist him with this lie. The only thing about this I find sad is the Brazilian authorities didnt get their hands on him before he fled. I have no doubt he claimed the robber was black. I’ll bet that’s exactly what he claimed.
cutterq
He was going to be drop since there are other younger swimmers they want for their advertising. Sorry Ryan, even swimmers have an expiration date.
Blackceo
Good. This guy is a tool and I’m glad that there was major push back on his ever evolving tale of lies. The worst was the reference of him as a “kid”. He’s a 32 year old man who can’t use being drunk anymore for stupid decisions. He took that “all American” privilege to another country and thought he could get away with foolish frat boy shenanigans and got caught. Actions have consequences and there’s no sympathy to be found for him from me.

oK, so, I saw the interview with Matt Lauer, and neither of them come out good after that, Matt’s condescending attitude toward’s Ryan, and Ryan’s perfectly memorized speech . . . . I don’t know if Matt has any wrongdoings in his past, but the way he acted as if he were the one to forgive Ryan, total BS. And Ryan only saying “I made a mistake, I was wrong” but actually never addressing what he did. Again, the interview was really uncomfortable, fake, uninteresting, why did they have to give this issue so much TV time, Weren’t the Olympics enough entertainment? Weren’t the sports records and athlete’s achievements enough? . . . weird . . .
