Noted intellectual Logan Paul shared his review of Jordan Peele’s new film Nope over the weekend, and the response has been amazing.
The sci-fi horror is Peele’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Us and 2017’s zeitgeist-defining, Oscar-winning Get Out. The star of the latter, Daniel Kaluuya, reunites with the writer-director in Nope, and is joined by Keke “Queen of Memes” Palmer and Minari‘s Steve Yeun.
In a series of tweets, Paul labeled the film, “one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time.”
“NOPE” is one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a long time.
I love Jordan Peele and Keke Palmer can act her ass off, but this movie is objectively slow and confusing with stretched themes that don’t justify the pace (a thread)

Without getting into plot, let’s just say many, many, many commenters found it more than a bit ironic that Paul seemed to miss the critique of how far people will go to achieve spectacle and fame, which is his basic business model.
How about we take this to the next level?

The Logan Paul NOPE thread is a masterclass in not knowing what movies are or how to think/talk about them.

not saying u have to like nope, but logan paul having this strong of a reaction to a movie clearly about trauma exploitation is *chefs kiss* given his su*c*de forest ordeal https://t.co/HdSUvrewBL

logan paul, a dude who exploited dead people for views, has negative opinions on a movie about exploiting things for fame. who knew. https://t.co/XBnOJS2R3w

Logan Paul literally posted a video of a suicide he discovered in the forest, watched Nope, and was too stupid to see the connection. https://t.co/ClGH5fXhds

I'm serious about my sentiments on Logan Paul and why he shouldn't be trust as an authority on film criticism.
The man desecrated a suicide forest in Japan and made money off of it– and he expects to be an authority on what makes a film by a POC director good or bad?!

wow logan paul doesn’t understand a movie that is about how capitalizing on a tragic event for profit is bad! https://t.co/BAlChvVDsw
— j (@jessamyotte) July 25, 2022
logan paul getting absolutely nothing out of Nope is very funny because the movie deals heavily with how harmful and all-encompassing the modern media industry has become and he's such a huge symptom of it

New goal for everyone should be to make movies Logan Paul hates https://t.co/yVHzBHHcns

How is this a gay topic? I’m reading many reviews on IMDB from people who feel the same way Logan Paul does.
thebaddestbabby
I was surprised by the AV Club’s C+ review, but then I saw the film over the weekend. It’s visually arresting, but somehow also very boring. And the plot and pacing are just not good. There are much worse movies playing right now, but Nope is too forgettable to be even a B movie.
Also, yeah, how is this a gay topic? It felt like the filmmakers went out of their way to make the alien (yes, as you correctly deduced from the trailer, the film has an alien, this is not a spoiler) NOT look like it had a huge anus mouth, which I felt was disappointing.
On the plus side: great acting from the leads, and Brandon Perea looks great

There’s many articles posted on here, like this one, with zero LGBT connection. I have no idea why they are posted on here.

So sorry this article offended you.

NOPE is not a movie that I will ever watch, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

People that have been cancelled by the elitist left do not get to have opinions. I do not care for Logan Paul, but found nothing wrong with his review.

He’s not wrong. It sucked!!

if he didn’t like it, he didn’t like it and he has a right to say how he feels about it. i haven’t seen the movie yet so i can’t say anything about it, however if/when i do see it i will express to anyone who listens to me how i thought the movie was.

Nope sucked. It was slow and didn’t make sense and play lines were confusing and discombobulated, I think everyone is upset because tge advertising is telling us it’s the “best movie of the year”, which it is not.

The reason this is posted on Queerty is because Logan Paul is a blonde white male which means he is deserving of all of our attention, doesn’t matter if he’s gay or not. He’s desired by white gay males and they run media. So the rest of us just need to suck it up, and get over the fact that this isn’t queer news, and barely qualifies as entertainment news from a D list former Youtuber, and a tragic boxer.

It enraged you so much that you had to write a multi-sentence paragraph to say you were enraged?
