While waiting for a Broadway show to start, a favorite pastime is flipping through your Playbill and playing its “How Many Have You Seen?” game, where you go through all the shows still open and tally how many you’ve knocked off your To-See list. It’s also the game we play when the Tony Award nominations are announced — and today the 2009 list was delivered. Who’s got your vote?

NEXT TO NORMAL is an AMAZING show. I think BILLY ELLIOT will get best show (even though I’d personally give it to N2N) but the best actress award belongs to Alice Ripley.
She’s fierce.
Alex
Dolly Parton was ROBBED!
Hyperella
Dolly Parton was nominated…Queerty just left off nominations for best score.
Alex
Left off Dolly Parton????
and you call this a gay website?
pfft.
Jon Mitchell
Kristen Scott Thomas was robbed. Dolly got pretty much what she deserved from that lackluster 9 to 5.
KW
Well thank god I read the comments before I had a coronary.
GranDiva
left off all the featured performer nominations as well…

@Quentin: I agree with you on both counts: NEXT TO NORMAL would get my vote for Best Musical (were I a Tony voter, which I am not) and Alice Ripley should win Best Actress in a Musical. I do think that Ms. Ripley should be dusting off a place on her mantel for her Tony, but I’d bet ELLIOT is going to take home the Best Musical trophy. My boyfriend loved BILLY ELLIOT, but I didn’t care for it. At least he’ll be happy.
ROCK OF AGES up for Best Musical? Over 9 TO 5? Really!?!
jbw
I haven’t even seen the show yet, but Megan Hilty (9 to 5) is a comic talent like I have not seen in a generation. I can’t believe she is not recognized. Anyone who saw Wicked in Hollywood knows what I’m talkin’ bout.

Umm…some of us fags actually write the musicals we all so enjoy and wouldn’t mind our peers being recognized here. I’m sure Dolly would agree with me, so:
