PHOTOS: But For the Grace Jones of God

SPL116884_025 OH SNAP — A ninety-minute Grace Jones event requires at least 10 outfit changes. And the performer didn’t fail to deliver at last night’s Hammerstein Ballroom show. And can we all just keep in mind: This woman is 61! (She was joined backstage by the lines of Bette Midler and Randy Jones, and Rosario Dawson, which just ups the gay factor.) This is performance art. (Photos: Splash News, Festival Wise)

    I LOVE HER!! Wish I’d known she was at Hammerstein. Damn.

    @Andrew: I would have love to have seen this too. That’s what happens I guess when you no longer have that circle of friends who would keep track of her and her pop-up performances.

    Any know what her very cute model son is up to nowadays? He looks just like her.

    @Helga von ornstein:
    No doubt. Ever since moving from NYC to the suburbs of Phila, I feel disconnected from the music scene. (and other things) It’s a bit of a bummer.

  • oh boy

    She looks great.

    God she brings back all of the spirit of when San Francisco and NYC were really hot an alive for gay people. when we really had a life. The throbbing nonestop erotic beat -there will never be anyone like her. I remember the Trocadero& I-beam etc . She represented everything that gay urban life was. Amazing woman.

    @Helga… During the Hollywood Bowl performance she announced that her son was playing drums in her band.

    NOTICE, all y’all youngins – it IS possible to do a stage performance and actually SING, not lip-synch, the entire thing.
