    Are there no heterosexual women left to watch this movie? Seriously!?! This movie has been so over-marketed to the gay community now that I am not going to see it just because it has now proven to be a shameless ploy to get gay men to see a movie with no gay storyline and a lot of straight ass. At the age of 33, I have to say that my fascination with straight ass is at least 10 years behind me, and the only ass I want to see now is gay.

  • dvlaries

    McConaughey had better rest up or something; he looks downright ill.

    And if I see this at all, it won’t be till after the DVD is out for sure. I don’t know why I need this kind of thing anyway. If you’re going to titillate me, I want my men fully naked, erect, and without screaming, pawing women around.

    And I can see no end of that now on the internet for free.

  • Daez

    Mathew McConaughey is about as hot now as John Travolta. It is about time that he hang up his status as a “leading man” and realize he needs to do parts that do not involve him getting shirtless.

  • dvlaries

    If Hollywood gave a damn about listening to us at all, they’d know this is not what we’re seeking. What we’re really longing for is a film that feels like the next logical step forward from Brokeback Mountain.

    But that would require bravery.

    When my late mother was 88 years old, White Collar had just started on the USA Network and they had a story about Matt Bomer in the paper. She commented that he was probably the best-looking man she had ever seen in her life. My mother was a very wise woman (and the biggest Johnny Depp fan in the known universe). And I can’t disagree with her. Bomer makes all the rest look like Danny de Vito – and I love Danny de Vito, but not for his looks. Bomer is almost TOO handsome.

  • Daez

    @dvlaries: Brokeback Mountain was a horrible film. It only won so many awards because it was so incredibly PC. If they gave a damn at all they would stop having only straight actors in gay movies and bring something resembling Eating Out or Edge of Seventeen to the big screen (toned down a little for the R rating of course).

  • Daez

    @Daez: Oh, I forgot that Matt Bomer was gay, so that is one out of how many stars? Way to go Hollywood! Also, even though he is actually gay IRL, I’m betting they make him hetero in the movie.

  • Spike

    This time next week the film will have flopped in it’s opening weekend and hopefully Queerty will stop with hyping this movie this have virtually NOTHING to do with the LGBT community.

  • Spike

    @Daez: Really, BM was horrible but they should make more movies like Eating Out? Really? And in your opinion only gay actors should be playing gay parts? Does that mean only str8t actors should be playing the str8t parts?

  • Baba Booey

    @Daez: straight ass? nobody in this film is straight.

  • Baba Booey

    @Spike: acting is a very effeminate profession to venture into. Not many heterosexual men pursue this field. Don’t think that because they claim to be straight, they are telling the truth.

  • Chris

    Amazing the amount of disdain and disinterest in this movie from the commenters.most of the commenters are so uninterested in this movie that they read every article, look at every photo, watch every trailer….and then take the time to comment on how much they aren’t interested. It’s actually kinda funny to watch.

    We all know this movie will do reasonable box office, not great, not horrible…and then do huge numbers on DVD.

    I especially like that comment that seems to suggest that “eating out” is great gay cinema, lol.

  • Joh

    @Baba Booey: So true!
    You know this is just the “tip” of Tatums
    stripper stories. They should have probed deeper.

  • Jeff

    Am I the only one who does not find Channing attractive?

  • Geoff

    @Jeff:

    Yes. (never ask a question here that is so easy to answer)

  • Geoff

    The movie received a ‘glowing’ review in the Hollywood Reporter. (for whatever that is worth) It was the closing film at the LA film festival Monday Night. And after all it is directed by Stephen Soderberg, no slouch there. With a cast of up and comers and one, well lets be kind and say not up and comer, I.m going on record. This thing will make serious money (even if the overseas money has to be counted to get there) Who really cares why any individual chooses (or not) to see it.

  • Ernst

    @Baba Booey: I nominate that for dumbest comment of the year. A real howler.

  • Kevin in Cincy

    @Jeff: I can’t speak for everyone, but in this case, Y-E-S. Perfection Personified, if you ask me… 😉

  • Kevin in Cincy

    @Geoff: Welcome to The Club… 😉

  • TonyC

    ALEX and Channing…I’m set!

  • Colin

    Heath Ledger in Brokeback was good haiku, this is something different, and by virtue of sheer number of its kind, probably open to tons of ridicule – lets face it, this movie was made just so all could have a good “vent”. It serves no other purpose. So stop thinking this deserves analysis, it makes you seem desperate to those around you

  • Spike

    @Geoff: Prior to which he directed . . .

    Haywire, Contagion, The Last Time I Saw Michael Gregg, And Everything Is Going Fine (documentary), The Informant!, The Girlfriend Experience

    Your point was, again?

  • Ugly Channing

    All the queens here gushing over that ugly Channing are pathetic. No taste. Matt Bomer looks a million times better.

  • Tim S

    Matt Bomer should be cloned since he is the hottest man on this planet and by far the best actor in this ensemble! He is educated and articulate as well which is unusual these days in Hollywood. Other actors must hate when he shows up and rules the carpet as usual.

  • Daez

    @Spike: If they are going to market it almost exclusively to the gay community then you bet your ass I want some actual gay actors in it.

    Oh, and BM was a horrible movie. It was overly PC. It was not gay in the least. Out of every gay movie I have ever seen it was easily the worse. Yes, they should make more movies like Eating Out because at least Eating Out had actual gay guys instead of two straight guys pining away about a love that dare not speak its name. They were so gay that they both went home to their wives and kids 363 days a year. Give me a break!

  • Daez

    @Tim S: I think you share some gay blindness with every other commenter here. Yes he is hot. Yes he is gay. However, he is far from being the hottest guy in Hollywood right now. To believe for a second that Bomer is hotter than Ryan Reynolds or Ryan Phillipe is just putting some huge ass gay goggles on.

  • mason

    Jealous Bullies and Haters need to go to the gym and grow lives already….sheesh!!

  • Geoff

    @Spike:

    My point was; Sex, Lies and Video Tape, Traffic, Oceans Eleven, Erin Brockovich, The Good German, etc. Interesting that in trying to make your point you would try to obfuscate and leave out Mr Soderbergh’s stunning success’. Perhaps you are not qualified to speak on this matter.

  • Geoff

    @Daez:

    I’m afraid I cannot give you a break. That you compare a serious film, Brokeback Mountain, with C- indie fluff, Eating Out, proves you are not in any way a serious cinephile. Brokeback Mountain was completely true to its time and place (1962) So How was it overly PC?

    ‘It was not gay in the least’. Perhaps you missed the scene where the two men had anal intercourse.

    ‘Of every gay movie I have ever seen it was easily the “worse”‘ – really ‘worse’ ?

    It received universal critical acclaim and was nominated for and won several Academy Awards. Please let us be done with your ignorance.

  • Baba Booey

    @Jeff: Nope.

  • Tim S

    @Daez: LOL, millions would disagree with that absurd statement on the bland Reynolds and the tired Philippe. Maybe come up with some more realistic examples if any actually exist.

  • jack

    Channing Tatum is number ONE. The rest of them are hot, but Channing is smokin.
