Irina Shepitko and Irina Fedotova-Fet are the two Russian lesbians who’ve been trying to get married, like, forevs. Sorry, ladies, but you’re gonna have to try harder: a Moscow City Court just denied their appeal.

The two Irinas appealed their October denial to secure a marriage license, and were dealt the expected blow. (The pair flew to Canada and legally married there, but Russia won’t honor their marriage, obviously, because the law says marriage is for The Man and The Woman.)

But this is all part of Irina^2’s ploy — to exhaust all options before appealing to the European Court of Human Rights, which their attorney Nikolai Alexeyev says is their next step. It makes perfect sense, then, that Fedotova-Fet just happens to work in public relations, because damn, that girl is working up a media frenzy.
