Y’all definitely know the negative connotations with “gay4pay”, how it’s been used by a lot of dudes with queer dimensions to shield their queer dimensions and insecurities, how it’s been used to uplift “straight” worship and hetero superiority. This is just an actor talking about a role. You don’t have to porn-i-fy everything.
As far as what he says, it’s a very politically correct and also somewhat dated perspective. The conversation of privilege, who has access to what opportunities, the entertainment industry’s bias, “sexuality”, the gender, sexual, romantic, emotion, commitment spectrum- it’s evolved beyond these kind of harmless but rather basic statements. But at least he didn’t say anything cringe-y or indirectly hateful.

Don’t know about the “pornifying” but I wish they would stop using that term for actors playing gay roles.

So he isn’t gay? I’m sitting here confused thinking gay-for-gay was some new reclaiming phrase while being reassured by each picture I passed. The kid won’t have to play gay for long because that show is getting canceled.

#1 – He’s only twenty years old and his sexual identity is his to choose, not anyone else’s.
#2 – The show is a huge audience hit, so unless you are an exec at Paramount with inside info, maybe hold off on predicting its cancellation.
skeldare
I’m not convinced he’s straight.

I think WOLF PACK is a hit but folks are just discovering it because it’s on Paramount which is a channel only my grandparents watch

It’s very much like those syfy series of a decade or so ago.

I find it hard to take an actor seriously when he says “I was like” and “they were like”…
I recently read a piece about Ezra Miller where the writer called him “one of the hottest, most sought after actors in the business” and he couldn’t even be bothered to string enough words together to form a coherent sentence.
Sir Ian and Sir Anthony: you’ve got nothing to worry about!

It’s frightening how long many of today’s youth can speak without actually saying anything.
“So we were walking down the street and like literally it just basically started like raining and we were like getting wet so my friend was like we should run so we like started to like run so we wouldn’t like get soaked.”
Consider This
G R – quite the accurate observation!

OMG -thank you. The Kardashians whom I don’t follow but once in a while they pop up in an interview and all of the say it too. parents and teachers should band together on this. it makes the speaker seem idiotic and uneducated when they used this meaningless sentence filler…assuming they can compose a complete sentence.
Other words and phrases I despise although “like” is the worst:
“Let’s go” when it doesn’t involve actually going anywhere.
“Kinda” when it either is or isn’t.
“Over exaggerating” when it’s either exaggerated or it’s not.
“that’s what I’m talking about”
“Low-key” – which I thought was on the minimum spectrum appears to be the opposite when someone says, “I’m low-key terrified.”
“What!!!” when someone is happy about receiving a car on a video and keeps saying “what” because they don’t have any other way to express their emotions. Obviously not just relegated to a video but that’s where i see it the most.

It could just be the name, but he looks a lot like the Lawrence brothers (Joey, Matthew).
Interesting.

What strikes me most about adorable Tyler Lawrence Gray is that he bears an incredible resemblance to the very well-known Lawrence Bros – Joey, Matt and Andrew. I was sure he was either Joey’s or Matt’s son. I’m wrong. But he has the sprinkles of Andrew, the hair of Matt and the facial expressions of Joey.

It’s beyond tiresome to hear bitter old curmudgeons complaining that a young actor respectfully playing a queer character isn’t progressive enough. The moment you start your nitpicking with some recycled crack about “today’s youth” I consider your opinion meaningless. I’m sure you were a Fulbright Scholar at 19, speaking the King’s English like a statesman and never using modern parlance. How about being glad to see queer characters being increasingly featured in heroic roles on TV and in film, instead of bitching that they don’t speak like a doctoral thesis?
