San Fransisco’s Vanessa Judicpa and Maria Ydil were so excited about Prop 8 being struck down, they rushed to City Hall — where Mayor Gavin Newsom once oversaw same-sex ceremonies — to demand a marriage license in the half hour between Walker’s ruling and his decision to stay the decision. They were denied, of course, since Judge Vaughn Walker stayed his decision pending a ruling on the defense’s motion, but kudos for bringing the 138-page ruling with them.

Until the stay is lifted, the California Supreme Court’s order upholding Prop. 8 remains in effect.
