WATCH: How They Cast The Door Hunks At Hollister

By Dan Avery May 23, 2012 at 10:05am · 19 comments

As it turns out, they don’t grow the genetically blessed greeters at Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch in a lab. They actually cast them like models. Above, casting director Preston Chaunsumlit reveals how Hollister finds its shirtless doormen. Apparently you need to smoke a lot of pot.

  • Well

Jeez, is that the best NYC can come up with?

I find the group female models in the video more attractive, and I’m 100% gay, so that is really saying something…

Is this “parody” or “satire”? It can’t be for-real….

This can not be for real.

As far as likability goes. Preston deserved to win.

@Well: Whoa…I’m not alone. I was thinking that army of long-legged females in heels looked rather cool…..

  • Irene Done

@Kasnar: WHAT? They all look like heroin addicts, skinny bitches.

@Irene Done: They are young. That’s what young people often look like, skinny, thin, etc. Your reply is rather typical of an old queen who try to makes himself feel better about the ravages of age by putting down what they will never be again (or maybe never were)

The message at the end says it’s a joke, so, no, it’s not for real.

@michael: Your reply is rather typical of a 20 something who try to makes himself feel better about your marginal looks by making pify comments knowing full well you’r going to be standing alone in front of Spiritus at age 32

@Aeiou: LMFAO! No, my reply is typical of a self accepting 51 y/o who knows his day in the sun is long gone but doesn’t feel resentful and bitter about. Putting down these kids won’t come close to bringing back what’s long gone. You should take note. You might be happier in your golden years.

I have wondered why some people are so down on skinny young gays.

    Now I get it. Jealousy.

C’mon you guys! You all know: if it’s fashion and advertising, IT’S REAL!

I think that was pretty funny. I was the mens booker in 89 at Boss Models. Those guys really do exist. I can still chuckle to myself thinking about the various really nice but waaaay not bright models who I dealt with back then. Btw, the girls are a lot smarter than the guys in the fashion biz.

As a former visual merchandiser at Abercrombie 5th Ave. I can tell you that this video is complete bullshit. First of all, no one who looks like this guy works for Abercrombie and Abercrombie would never release a pointless rambling video that purports to be the detailed process of model selection.

Also, the doormen and models NEVER have tattoos so the accuracy of this is just bogus.

    What a waste of time.
