Did Nepal Just Lose Its Gay-Friendly Status With Activist Crackdown?

Wasn’t Nepal en route to becoming some gay tourist mecca by giving the gays equal rights and hosting a same-sex marriage? Then detaining some 70 activists — who were rallying near the prime minister’s office to demand transgender citizens be allowed to identify as a “third sex” on government papers — probably isn’t helping that image.

      Oh, dear. That’s truly a shame, I hope things get better over there, it’s still much better than most other countries in Asia, though. Optimism!
