Oh, hit it: At a soundcheck before a recent concert in Vienna, Virginia, Cheyenne Jackson crooned his way through a rendition of Lady GaGa’s “Edge of Glory” and decided to share the effort on social media.

Easy to see why. The arrangement forgoes GaGa’s power-poppy vibe in lieu of something far more torchy and melodramatic — so cabaret queens are sure to get all swoony and heart-melty when he performs October 27th in Palm Springs. And frankly, it’s rather odd just how well this version of the song suits his voice; he’s owning it, no?

And a famous Broadway actor with a number of credits, TV roles on Glee and 30 Rock and numerous films…really just because you’re clueless about the arts doesn’t make him less popular amongst those who know anything. Sorry he’s not Cher or Madonna or any of the old folks you like.

Gaga’s done this song as a piano ballad several times so he’s just copying her arrangement really.

Sans Ga Goyle? Automatically superior by default and that’s without even listening to it.

Wow! Knowing nothing about him I’d lumped him in with all those fake gay social media stars famous for taking their clothes off, but this was really great!

No, he’s the real deal. Very nice guy and GREAT voice. So glad he got through earlier struggles and is doing well again.

One of my favorite recordings is Cheyenne Jackson and Michael Feinstein singing “If I Can Dream.” It really shows off Mr. Jackson’s range. Simply beautiful.

When I start to feel optimistic that people aren’t all asshats, I come to Queerty comments to remind myself that you all really are.
