It seems our dear Fred Phelps, crackpot minister of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church, has had enough of just picketing gay pride parades and funerals for American soldiers. He’s now planning on protesting Coretta Scott King’s funeral because of her support of the gay community.
Mrs. King’s longstanding support for gay issues included speaking out publicly against a proposed federal constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage. She was also a vocal supporter of HIV/AIDS awareness.
“WBC has warned Mrs. King for more than 10 year [sic] that by endorsing the homosexual agenda she was bringing down the wrath of God upon herself, her family and the black civil rights movement. She is an ingrate – unthankful and holy,” the church said in a press release.
Usually we have nothing but bad things to say about Mr. Phelps, and while this time is no different, we do hope he goes through with his plans. Why? Because it’ll be sooooo nice to see the man get his ass kicked by an angry mob on national television. See you in Atlanta, Fred.
