Gay Hollywood has just made a big political endorsement: his name is Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Matt Bomer, Ryan Murphy, comedian Billy Eichner and Greg Berlanti, among others, have announced a special fundraiser for the out-gay Presidential candidate, slated to take place at Murphy’s home. Agent Bryan Lourd (father of actress Billie Lourd), Matt Whitney and Robbie Rogers will also take part this June 19.

Buttigieg has made history by becoming the first out-gay man to run for a major party ticket, and already his message has begun to resonate with voters. In just a few short weeks, Buttigieg rocketed from obscurity to third place among Democratic candidates, behind only Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden. Buttigieg also shocked the political world by raising a whopping $7 million in the first quarter of 2019, an even more impressive number given that his first appearance on the national stage didn’t even happen until March.
In addition to his upcoming Hollywood fundraiser, Buttigieg has already attracted some high profile donors including Ryan Reynolds, Mandy Moore, Bradley Whitford, screenwriters John August and Paul Rudnick and Caroline Kennedy, daughter of President John F. Kennedy.

So great to see everyone coming out for Mayor Pete! Now if they could get their creations off what is left of Fox Owned companies. It is a crime to contribute to ANYTHING owned by the Murdoch family!
fur_hunter
Larry…….How old are you? The wheels of progress do NOT move swiftly. They move VERY slowly. What I have witnessed in my lifetime has been amazing. BUT…..it took lots of time. I was 24 when Stonewall happened in June of 1969. That event created the organizing of the gays and establishing the Gay Community….and….the Gay Rights Movement fighting for Gay Rights. Because of the religious fundamentalist @$$holes, I thought it would take till Jesus came again for gay marriage to happen. Do you realize that there was a proposal back in the mid-70s to round up the gays and put them on an island? Yeah. Anita Bryant. Google her. Well. I have lived to see gay marriage legalized but it took 46 years from Stonewall for that to happen. 46 YEARS! And now, to see an openly gay man, running for the highest office in the land, is totally amazing to me. The wheels of progress move very slowly. So, get off your @$$ and VOTE. And don’t say my vote doesn’t count. WRONG!!! 50 men in a bar in June of 1969 changed Gay History FOREVER!!!!

fur_hunter,
Beautifully said. Thanks.
AgainNagain
fur-hunter, you are the reason I and many young people don’t like to be with old people like you, keeping talking about stuff from 40 years ago and from your subjective and biased memory. You are stuck in the past and the less you think about it, the better.
PinkoOfTheGange
Fox Entertainment was bought by Disney last month.
The Murdoch’s still own the news and sports channels and newspapers in the US.
ryannick
@AgainNagain, @fur_hunter is correct. He’s not stuck in the past. His generation is the reason you’re able to enjoy your present. Show some gratitude you’re not living a secret life and scared to be who you are.
Catholicslutbox
The us isn’t progressive enough to elect him. we’re likely to end up with trump again if this guy gets elected.
fur_hunter
OH Yee of little faith!! With all that is out there regarding the @$$ hole in the WH, I would doubt if he would be re-elected, even if there was a Moose running against him. I truly believe the people are sick of him. The only way he will get re-elected is because people don’t get off their fat F-ing @$$es and vote. Laziness and irresponsibility will get him back in office.
Catholicslutbox
you’d be surprised.

I think you need to crawl out from under the rock of which you live and watch Mayor Pete. Every interview he nails it, and people love him. I guess you don’t watch TV or read the news under your rock or you would see that mayor Pete has skyrocketed up to 3rd in the national polls. All this, and the campaign is just beginning.
If America can elect Trump, America can elect Mayor Pete….and now believe it will.
fur_hunter
It makes me happy to have lived long enough to see such a thing happening. I thought I would never see gay marriage happen. And now, a gay man running for President. WOW! What is so wonderful is that he is smart, well-rounded, able to think on his feet, answers questions without a pause. And his credentials are superb. What makes me even happier is that the straight, religious fundamentalist @$$ holes can’t call him a flaming queen. I do wish him well. And regardless of the outcome, he has made history for the Gay Community…..and the wheels of progress move slowly forward a little more.
AgainNagain
So relieved that Mayor Pete is not feminine. He is what a gay man is supposed to be like, a normal, masculine acting man who doesn’t have a high pitched voice.
noxis
AgainNagain clearly voted for Trump. AgainNagain is a disgrace to the LGBT community.
mikeTigg
Wow AgainNagain, thank you for proving my point that you’re just a little shallow intolerant creep that crawled from under a rock. Of course you could also be a gay-hating Republican arsehole trying to pass yourself off as gay so as to make hateful statements.
LorenzoJones
Totally agree!
rbernard
Personally, I like Mayor Pete a lot, a whole heck of a lot…
but,
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE NEED TO ACCOMPLISH IN 2020 IS TO DEFEAT DONALD TRUMP.
If it is clear Pete Buttigieg can do this, I am all in.
If it is clear one of the other 16 or 17 other Democratic candidate are more likely to win, I am all in for them.
Inspector 57
Agreed.
I think it is WONDERFUL that an out gay man is doing this well in the early polling, and I will contribute to his campaign. The fact that he is even getting this much respectful media coverage is a step forward for us.
But I’m not ruled by identity politics. I’m more three-dimensional than just being “gay.” I will vote for the candidate who I suspect will serve the country best (and have the best chance to beat Trump).
Taiyoken
Does policy matter to anyone? I’m not voting for Pete just because we both happen to be gay.
Pete is:
anti healthcare for all,
anti college for all,
pro war,
pro corporation,
pro current establishment.
pro mandatory military service,
and pro DNC cheating Bernie.
He is a gay male Hillary, put him up against Trump and he WILL lose.
AgainNagain
Free health care for all and free college for all? Who is going to pay for them? I swear some of the extreme liberals have this shameful entitlement complex. They just want the free stuff for themselves because they can’ afford them and want someone else to pay.
Juanjo
Taiyoken is a Bernie Bro or a Republican operative troll posting lies. He’s been doing it for a while now. That’s all they have here, along with homophobic slurs which he uses when on the appropriate site. He’s been called out numerous times on other sites and banned from some over this bs.
noxis
@AgainNagain You sound exactly like a Republican.
truthseeker
LOL I like how the people who are mad at this Taiyoken person won’t refute the points he made. Instead they just resort to name calling and say he must be a Bernie Sanders voter or a Republican (I guess people think those are the same thing to lump them in the same sentence).
As I have said before, I don’t think the media or Hollywood would even care about Mayor Pete unless he was gay. If Mayor Pete was a straight white guy in this race, nobody would care.
It seems that people are voting over identity or mere party lines instead of principles on the issues. Proof of that is seen in these comments.
LorenzoJones
You got him all wrong. Have you not been listening?
animatedgifman
What is with this AgainNagain clown? Seriously, dude, who pissed in your Cheerios? It is NOT “free” health care nor “free” college for all that Pete Buttigieg is or ever has proposed. I’ve read your spin on three other commenters in the past and all three of your comments got their message exactly 100% WRONG and 100% ‘accurate’ for the garbage FOX (read: FAUX) “News” Channel claims is the message. IOW, you have apparently not watched or listened to a single word this obviously extremely competent and much beloved mayor has been saying. He is NOT proposing “Medicare For All” with a single payer mandate, but rather offering Medicare to any who may prefer it by offering it as but one option on the Health Care Marketplace exchange.
What is so odd or ‘wrong’ about offering ‘free’ state college education for free or at an affordable price for anyone willing to serve their state or country for a period of time performing public service? We already provide ‘free’ K-12 education for all and are one of the only developed countries who don’t (also) extend that ‘free’ public education through grades 16 or even 20. How else are we to be able to compete in a global marketplace if no one can individually afford the costs of said education (short of being chained to a federally back series of student loans that never go away)?
lakeviewer
Wow! You clearly have not listened to anything Mayor Pete has talked about in his many interviews and town hall meetings! What you are posting is not what his vision is!
truthseeker
@animatedgifman
There are many things wrong with “free” college. For starters, we cannot afford it as a nation. If you have the government reimburse colleges for the cost of every student, colleges would price gauge the government if they’re guaranteed payment regardless.
Secondly, it would create tougher admission practices among colleges because they would experience periods of maximum capacity in programs, resulting in students being denied admissions.
Third, it would create a surplus in the job market. You must not understand supply and demand. If the supply (job seekers) exceeds the demand (jobs), you have higher unemployment or jobs would require more qualifications of candidates, considering that a degree can be attained by anyone. This then would mean the taxpayer fully paid for someone to get a degree that they cannot get a job for – waste of money.
Also, you’re comparing the US to countries that are the size of some of our states. The US already spends more on education than the countries that already outrank us in test scores. Your answer to that is to throw more money at the problem.
Then you say people are “chained to a federally back series of student loans that never go away”. They go away if you pay them, just like any loan. You complain about the federally back debt run by the government and your answer is to give the government more control of the educational system. Flawed logic and not the answer to this problem.
LARRY
it took me a minute to place AgainNagain and another one bites the dust.
lakeviewer
AgainNagain’s posts scream, “I’m Lindsey Grahm’s boyfriend and a Teapublican Troll!”
Taiyoken
@Juanjo I have? that’s news to me. I haven’t posted on here in months. and I’ve never been banned from any site. I’ve never used a homophobic slur here or any site, not since middle school anyway.. If someone here is a “republican operative” I’d look at the guy accusing me of “doing this for a while, now” and “being called out on other sites”, and using terms like “Bernie Bro”
dmanhart
Well said Taiyoken. Anyone who is not a far left liberal is considered a troll. Not real.
The same thing happens with the Evangelical Right. Attacking centrists.
One group is no better than the other.
nm4047
Sounds like AgainNagain is using the same referencing sources of Fox new when making claims that ‘I and many young people don’t like etc’ what basis are you using to make this statement, or should we just take that as a comment.
Black Pegasus
What what in the Butt.
Mattaz
As a fellow gay Hoosier I was excited about Mayor Buttigeig’s candidacy. I contributed early so that he would qualify for the debates. I have since become disenchanted with his lack of policies and collaboration with the centrists that corrupted the DNC and DCCC, i. e. undisclosed meetings in Washington, D.C. and NYC to handle the “Bernie problem.” This isn’t a campaign I will be supporting. He may be gay, but I for one am more enamored by our democratic republic than a cute guy’s sexuality.
LorenzoJones
Give Mayor Pete some time to develop his plans for a better life in America for all. He didn’t raise 7M by being anti-democratic. He’s young, up with the times and open-minded enough to give all of us what we need, not just for the rich, powerful and corrupt.
Hussain-TheCanadian
I personally don’t understand what is so special about “mayor pete” – the man is a neoliberal hack who has introduced zero policy proposals other than wanting to increase the number of judges on the supreme court.
The man is an empty suite, a waste of space, and cheering for him just because hes gay is beyond ridiculous.
It doesnt bother any of you that he has proposed zero policies on universal health care, the uncontrolled military spending, money in politics, the infrastructure that is about to collapse, and tax cuts for the rich?
Aires the Ram
@Hussain-TheCanadian, You just saved me a lot of typing, thanks!
jsteinbee
My older sister said he a rack that if I vote I throw away my vote she dead wrong a lot peoples said that Trump would not win Hess who in wh now this gay man has done a lot for himself just alone he tased 7 million in a quarter the Hollywood gay and throwing him a fundraiser just think how much more he can accomplish if he get are vote fur is right
justyouandi
So we vote for a woman because “it’s time we had a woman in the White House!” But THIS woman?
Now we will vote for a gay guy because ……… he’s gay!?
How about we study his policies and consider the ramifications of those policies. Actually, he can say anything but since there’s no track record (he’s too young and inexperienced to have one) I think we need to pass on this one. Our republic is too fragile to take the risk.
Let’s be grown-ups here.
lakeviewer
If anyone did a little research on Pete and watched and listened to his deliverance of speaking on his feet; The first thing you would have noticed is there is no AWW, UMM or any paused hesitations in his sentences all with certainty and no teleprompter! The answers are well thought out and are not committing anything of uncertainty. That alone is a signal of someone who has their shy tee together!
Miles
AgainNagain is so hot! He is definitely trolling on here but he is so good looking!
Aromaeus
Another neo-liberal shill who sucks the c*ck of major corporations and the establishment. The only difference is he likes c*ck.
