Why We’re Proud: As Scandal caps off its final season, we’ve taken a moment to pay homage to Mr. Diaz, who has always spoken openly about his sexuality. We’ve watched the New York native grow up since his earliest days in films like Party Girl and Half Baked, as well as on various television shows like Party of Five and ER. With Scandal though, Diaz hit his stride. He gained a whole new level of fame for his performance as the Huck, the former assassin and resident hacker on the series.

Diaz also put his fame to good use. He’s spoken many times about the difficulty of growing up gay and Latino, and the bullying he endured. His frank discussion of learning to be himself has earned him various accolades in recent years, including the Human Rights Campaign’s Visibility Award and landing a spot on the 2017 Out 100 list. Diaz has also gushed over his love of Madonna, boasting that he’s seen almost all of her tours, and sporting a tattoo of Ms. Ciccone on his arm.

This Pride, we offer our own salute to Diaz’s talent and honesty and thank him for being himself.

As Scandal ends its run, we can’t wait to see what he does next.
