Matthew Mitcham is diving into a whole new pool of followers.
15 years after winning gold at the 2008 Olympics, Mitcham is dipping his toes in steamier waters with the official launch of his OnlyFans account.
The 34-year-old announced the start of his subscription-based membership with a teasy photo showcasing his medal-winning bare backside as he lounged on his bed. Inviting to say the least!

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Mitcham is following in the footsteps of his husband of nearly three years, Luke Rutherford, who has an established and explicit presence on the platform
While it’s unclear if the married duo will collaborate on screen, subscribers will definitely get more than they are seeing of Mitcham on other sites.

“For everything that would be banned on Instagram and TikTok,” Mitcham described what’s to come in the bio of his new account.
And while OnlyFans has become synonymous with X-rated content, it doesn’t seem like Mitcham is planning to get too scandalous for $10 a month. At least not yet.
“Please don’t expect anything too risqué,” he warned his potential subscribers.
Mitcham’s latest money-making endeavor isn’t the only way he’s been sharing more of himself with his fans. Earlier this month, he spoke candidly about his past mental health and addiction struggles.

Mitcham described how his fame in the aftermath of the Olympics made it hard for him to ask for help.
“There was a lot of fear for me – being in the public eye, being recognizable, being in sport – there’s a huge taboo with drugs and sport,” he told Pink News. “There was a lot of fear that prevented me from doing it but ultimately it was the best decision I ever made.”
Since getting sober 7 years ago, Mitcham has continued being a role model and activist working with various LGBTQ charities and organizations.
And with the launch of his OnlyFans, it looks like he’s ready for a little more play too.
If you’re not ready to drop cash on Mitcham’s OF, you can enjoy these thirst-inducing shots for free…

I don’t have an issue with public figures getting OnlyFans. But it’s almost always a form of desperation. It’s rarely this empowering, “groundbreaking” thing that queer media (particularly this site) keeps trying to make it be. And sometimes it’s a money grab, where guys use their queer male fan base and exploit queer-dom in general for validation and attention. Sex work is fine. But let’s be real about what’s really going on in it and what drives many people to it. Y’all did the same thing with Tyler Posey when it’s more obvious than ever that he did started an OF in the midst of mental health, drug and financial struggles, and he was very much exploiting his fan base for over-priced PG-13 photos and using guys who are unabashedly into guys for some quick checks. Just be more careful with propping up every cute white guy who is “queer friendly” and/or gets naked.

I think we all know where it goes from here. I’ve no objection to guys doing OnlyFans, but the celebrity OnlyFans accounts tend to have a different trajectory. Aaron Carter, anyone? Mitcham attempted to segue from diving to a career as a singer/entertainer. And he was actually good. But that career didn’t lead anywhere much. He’s tried to keep himself out there with various promotions and causes, but his star is fading. So this does look like desperation, and it’s hardly going to help what’s left of his “mainstream” media career. It’s particularly dangerous for someone with an addiction history. But I hope he finds a way through. For what it’s worth, I blame the skanky husband.

It’s money and attention. But is it really any different than becoming a YouTuber or Twitch streamer with a Patreon account? The only difference is the (potential) nudity. Which just exposes the haters as being prudes. No one is forced to pay for their OnlyFans, and if you’re not happy with what’s there you’re not required to continue.
Just admit you hate anyone even the most tangentially involved in sex work.
dbmcvey
Interesting about us gay men, we want to see the nudes but we also want to look down on the people who do them.
Donston
I don’t know if this is a response to my post, but what you’re saying doesn’t have much to do with what I said. I have zero issue with nudity. Nudity and sex work are two different things. How we talk about sex work and how we talk about the ways public figures engage with their audience needs to be more nuanced. The one way praising or bashing is almost always a mistake. Both approaches further slut shaming and sex work shaming and furthers exploitation and naïveté. I’m also not that caught up in seeing public figures naked. Seeing some private parts ain’t that serious to me.

@Donston
It’s more in response to how I see a lot of gay men who either join the Only Fans or google the images but at the same time shame the men who are doing it. I didn’t really read your post.

that’s a hell no from me.

Donston, I think you’re being a bit too judgmental here. None of us know the level of “desperation” behind people who do OF or similar things, or whether it’s a need for attention or a result of narcissism, etc. We just don’t know. So it strikes me an inappropriate to guess or make any sort of judgment. ALL of this – on both ends – is entirely consensual. If someone wants to do OF why should we care? If someone wants to pay to see something from someone why should we care?
OnlyFans is a thing that some people do and some people pay to “enjoy.” I think it’s counterproductive to analyze any of those people. And I say that as someone with a reputation of over-analyzing things.
Diplomat
That’s his format: judgemental.

As someone who is very sex positive and knows that sex workers are workers and it is a legitimate business, I’m not subscribing to anyone in onlyfans who is not doing full frontal or engaging in sex acts on the site. As far as I’m concerned these vanity pages that don’t even show full frontal are just stealing business from the ones who really need it. Whatever happened to the old term “ get more bang for your buck “ ? Hard Pass Matthew but congrats on your recovery and I still follow your swimming career.
AnnMargretFan
In searching the Internet via Google I discovered “someone” has joined his Onlyfans page, captured the images, and posted them on various sites. In the 20+ pictures I viewed, all were showing full frontal. There was also a full frontal nude of his partner, and a few even showed him erect. I’m more of a fan of dark, hairy guys, so I wouldn’t be one to join his Onlyfans but for those interested, the pics are there.
Joshooeerr
Mitcham was a diver, not a swimmer. And he’s been retired from that for about a decade. I guess you’re too busy being sex positive to keep up.
Jack Meoff
Given all the hot hunks available to view on Only Fans I can’t help but think Mitchem’s inclusion in an already flooded market will be met with a huge ‘meh’.
Peter
I’m agreeing with bits and pieces of several already-posted comments. I like Matthew, but if he’s going to do an OF page I want to see him naked, erect and cumming. I highly doubt he’s that forthcoming, so my guess is we’ll get a lot of teasing nudes, but no frontals and no sex. He has every right to do that, but having been an OF subscriber for a couple years now there are way too many hot guys who tease us into handing over the cash and all we get are photos that could appear on either IG or Twitter — for free. It’s a bit ingenuous; a lot of guys never mention the lack of full frontals but word their introductions to suggest there are. Or they do offer the X-rated stuff but only via PPVs at $30+. Buyer beware, I guess.
BrokebackBob
Well, Matthew has taken a very long fall off that Olympic podium. Bye Felicia.
Kanaka4127
Do old tired gays still say “Bye Felicia”?.
Peter
I just checked out his OF page (I didn’t subscribe), and this is part of his introduction: “I’m still working in mainstream media so I won’t be doing any sex acts or full frontal nudity for the foreseeable future.” I give him credit for being honest about that, as so many models are not. But I still feel it’s a somewhat disingenuous way to make money, as OF is primarily a showcase for men and women to be unabashedly sexual. We can see lots of sexy, near-nude photos of him and others on Twitter and IG, for free. Then again he’s told us what we’re getting, so there’s no reason to complain if we’re expecting more.
LumpyPillows
Not a fan of people with Only Fans who don’t deliver. I like him. He states you won’t get the money shots, so he’s been clear. I really don’t want to pay for arty photos for $10/month.
lkeels
He must have deleted content then because he’s 1) been on OF for quite awhile…his account isn’t new, and 2) he had plenty of risque stuff on it, and not solo either.
DrJones
As others have said, yes people can post whatever they want on OF, but I do think that in his case (and others sometime, especially if they were formerly “famous” and that time is now gone [not going back to the Olympics for him]) this is often either an attempt to stay “in the limelight” for better or for worse, or for lack of another revenue stream, or both, and in part along with prior addictive tendencies. Of course nothing wrong with OF as long as no one is exploited, but I wonder what his therapist (assuming he has one) would say? Also I didn’t know his husband has OF, now it just seems he is copying him to stay relevant, and I thought they broke up too??
bachy
I don’t subscribe to OF, so can someone explain: what’s the difference between OF and Chaturbate? I’ve noticed performers on Chaturbate advertising their OF sites.

Tell your boi to stick to the mainly mustache look. Nice!
Prax07
He’s got a weird head and face. No thanks OF.

He’s an Olympic champion, which I’m sure can’t stand up to typing your opinions.
