With the right makeup and an expensive wig (and maybe some subtle prosthetics?), Taron Egerton (L) has gloriously transformed into 1970s Elton John (R) for the film Rocketman.
And the likeness is a bit uncanny.

According to The Daily Mail, the film will “follow Sir Elton’s life his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through to his influential musical partnership with lyricist Bernie Taupin, played by Jamie Bell. It will document the life of the singer and songwriter from youth as a student to the start of his rock career in the 1970s and 80s.”
Rocketman is expected to arrive at theaters May 31, 2019.

Let me re-phrase that….If that’s him in the picture above in this particular article…he looks remarkably like Elton John. However, after going to the link, I see that there’s some difficulty in thinking he’s Elton; and I think it’s because of the mouth. Elton had an expansive smile, while Taron’s mouth is pursed and makes him look like a shrill fish wife.

If one goes to the link and looks at the side-by-side comparison, they really don’t look alike. Egerton has thicker and more hair, the glasses are wrong (they are missing the piece over the lens), John has major chest hair missing entirely from Egerton, and the mouths are entirely different. I am not sure they even look related, let alone close to the same.

Even though it’s widely acknowledged that Elton John is a MAJOR douche, you can’t deny his talent. Do you even REALIZE how hard it is to play a piano, let alone play one while singing?

I’m amazed at how judgmental you guys are! One photo that looks to me like Elton, not Taron playing Elton, and you start slagging Taron off. Why not wait for the movie and see how much like Elton he is, when playing him. He’s an actor after all, so he’ll never be a double so cut the guy some slack before attacking him!

His lace-front, is it even a lace front, maybe more prosthetic, wig is so clockable. It looks like he had botox and it only covered top half of his forehead.
