Four players from Sport Clube Gaúcho, a Brazilian soccer club based in Passo Fundo, Brazil, had their contracts terminated this week after video of them engaging in a gay locker room sexcapade emerged online.
The 11-second video was reportedly recorded on Friday and uploaded to the Internet over the weekend. It depicts one player on his knees in front of two other players while a fourth player eggs him on.

Club president Gilmar Rosso called the video “disgusting” but insisted the players’ terminations had nothing to do with the fact that they were engaging in gay sex, but rather that they had done so on club property.

“Outside business hours, we have nothing to do with the situation,” he said. “If they want to get drunk, gay or not, that’s their problem. What I have to answer as president is during a trip, office hours. That’s my responsibility.”
He added, “The club is not a keeper of morals and good manners. The only thing we have to answer to is them making the video inside the locker room.”

Rosso finished by saying he believed the players were straight, but that it was now up to them to “prove they are not gay.”
Given the tone of Rosso’s comments, a lot of folks are wondering: Were the guys really fired because it happened on club property? And would their contracts have been terminated if the video had depicted a heterosexual sex act instead?
Sure, filming oneself having sex at work and then uploading it online probably isn’t the smartest thing to do, but does a person really deserve to be fired over it? Could the guys not have been reprimanded or suspended instead?

I watched the uncensored video. Calling this “gay sex” is a huge stretch. It wasn’t a sex act. It was horseplay. The issue here is the label “gay” which certainly factored in the firing of these players.

That settles it. I’m sure homophobia had nothing to do with why they got rid of these players rather than fining or suspending them.

I have no idea what their rules are, but it is their workplace, would whatever they did be ok if they did it in Macys if they were employees. People break rules then cry about it. I’m over it

I agree with @Ajs33308 on this one. While I am not saying homophobia didn’t play a role, I’m sure it did, but I can’t think of any workplace where this would be appropriate and not end up with someone fired.

The club didn’t give such an easy explanation though. They did not simply say, “This was unprofessional.” They said that being gay is “disgusting” and a “problem.” They said this firing was meant to protect the players from homophobic insults. The entire twisted logic is anti-gay.

Actually, the club President was clear on this point: “The only thing we have to answer to is them making the video inside the locker room.” And that lack of good judgment is the basis for their firing. ….. Everything else is a running commentary that, granted, the club spokesman would have been well-advised not to have said. ….. In no workplace should such behavior be tolerated.

In the U.S. that’s easy – you prove you are not gay by getting fat, watching a lot of (American) football, pretending to work on cars (before you give up & take it to the shop), loudly proclaiming that you voted Republican (even if you didn’t), and belching a lot.
But if a professional Brazilian soccer player is actually gay, alas, these avenues are closed off to him.

They didn’t get hard, the lighting was horrible, the laughing was out of place, they didn’t shoot loads and there was no f***ing, so yeah, it was totally disgusting! Of course they should be fired!!!

Whether it was gay sex or not – Don’t engage in this behavior at the workplace and never do it before the camera. They broke these two rules right there. I can’t sympathize.

Where/how do people find these leaked videos anyway? Seriously. I never see things like this leaked on Pornhub or Xvideos. Ever. Am I missing something?
Also, they shouldn’t have been fired. Even if it was on site – give them a warning or something, and tell them if they’re caught doing it again, there’ll be consequences.

So I just watched the 10 second video clip – how is this ‘gay sex’? There’s no penetration of any sort. Just locker room pranks/funny time. Hardly should equate to any firing. Whoever fired them was being pretty dramatic.

Well, I can’t even watch the video since I’m at work as I could potentially be fired for *watching* something like this. I could also lose my gym membership if I even simulated sex in the locker room so it’s hard to say this is purely homophobia at work. I wonder if this was some type of hazing.

Just saw the video. Yeah, I’d definitely get fired if I did that at my job. People get fired these days for posting on their personal social media pages, because it reflects badly on the company. Double fisted handjob videos certainly fall under that category too.
