Looking to feel like a million dollar bill (albeit a counterfeit one?)
This singer from the Netherlands has the whole Internet in her hands after her remarkable renditions of Whitney Houston classics went virulently viral.

38-year-old Glennis Grace from Amsterdam is a mother-of-one with an uncanny knack for channeling the late diva. There’s not a whole lot to say except that it’s utterly crazy.

No she doesn’t. Same style but different tone or timbre

I just knew I was going to have to log on in and disagree with someone.
But I was wrong. I completely agree. Great singer, wonderful even, but saying “exactly like Whitney” is incorrect.
Stenar
I came to say the same thing. It’s very close, but different.

She does sound like Whitney on this particular song but I’d rather listen to Whitney doing Whitney than someone else doing Whitney.

It’s good. But Charice in her teens still sets the bar upon which all other singers/belters are measured up against.
silveroracle
She’s close but different.
Terrycloth
There was only one whitney…she’s close but why ? Trying to copy note for note is almost lip syncing…try singing in your own style ..world is full of Elvis’s and Michael Jackson wanna be”s or impersonators…might be great as a novelty on a cruise ship…

Whitney Houston is one of the easiest singers to sound like. Barbra is probably one of the hardest. (I’ve tried all. I can do a mean Cher). I asked Jimmy James how he sounded like Barbra. I forget what he said but I know she goes from soft and breathy to power belt at the drop of a dime and has a little nasal thing going on occasionally. Happy 75th birthday, Barbra.

Not arguing because you’re simply wrong. Singers are proclaimed as greats due to their unmatched, unrivaled talent! Whitney was known for her range: her high, highs and her low, lows. Barbara is known for her beautiful timbre and gradual runs. Cher is known for her unique voice and beautiful symmetry of sound. Celine Dion is known for her highs and glorious runs; as is Mariah, in her prime! No great singer or notable Diva is an easy singer to sound like…unless you believe that the acoustics in your car make you sound like a recording artist.
James
I think most of you missed the point, some of you by a long shot! The article is not an argument to how much Glennis Grace sounds like Whitney Houston, yet drawing attention to the singer. Glennis Grace sounds remarkable, even though she doesn’t sound exactly like Whitney. Whitney, like other well known divas, are NOT easy singers to emulate — hence why they’re divas!
How many people do Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Cher, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Patti LaBelle, Tina Turner or even Adele, justice? Yes, they may create their own sound but do they hit the highs and the lows that prove their original vocals, even to this day, to be unique and unsurpassed?
Why argue against the beauty, when you can enjoy it!? Enjoy life, don’t make war where it’s not necessary — and I was in the military so, no! I’m not a treehuger…

You’re saying the point of an article entitled “She sounds exactly like Whitney Houston” is not actually whether she sounds like Whitney Houston?
DennyB
Why would you want to sound or look like anyone else? Sure it’s great if that’s your calling but then you become a vaudeville act and eventually any sense of artistic satisfaction would feel beleaguered. Just do you. If you have the goods then folks will love you for YOU.

I think this young lady is amazing. She has an incredible voice. If she is to follow in Whitney’s footsteps, I hope she has learned to stay away from drugs. It would be a shame to loose another wonderful voice to drugs.

She is a good singer, but she is doing the same thing a lot of female singers do by copying her vocal choices. How many Adele copycats are there now? Plus before Whitney started hitting the crack pipe so hard, she could sing longer phrases without taking a breath. When you are trying to copy someone and are not making your own natural choices in a song, it is more difficult to do that- hence more big breaths taken in the middle of phrases by Glennis.

Not Whitney
MediaGuy
I’m not hearing it.
