Well, this summer has been nothing but chaos, musically-speaking. Nobody seems to be able to agree on the official song of the summer, which means all of our parties have been pointless.
Is it that Daft Punk song about Lucky Charms? That Robin Thicke song? The theme song to Blossom? Somebody, please settle this. We popped over to Summertramp, L.A.’s summertime pool party, to ask a bunch of shirtless men what they’re listening too. The answers may surprise you. (Spoiler: they probably won’t.)

Murray, Brian, Shirleen, Kyan, and Cory Lee are Miley Cyrus fans, and love “We Can’t Stop.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
David and Charles are listening to “Bubble Butt.”
Fabio, Antonio, Alex and Luis like anything by Britney Spears.
Eric, Kip and Kevin are also “Bubble Butt” fans.
Matty and his two Alexen are into “Blurred Lines” and and Sean Kingston’s “Beat It.”
Oscar and Patrick may not know much about art, but they know what they like, and that’s Miley Cyrus.
We didn’t bother asking these guys what their song of the summer is, because they were busy making their own kind of music.
Dale and Matthew like Gaga’s “Applause.”
Braulio and Dakota Major DeVil do not live for the applause. They live for “Summertime Sadness.”
Ben and Colton are American heroes for not citing pop music as the song of the summer. They recommend anything from Com Truise.
Mike, Gary and Johnny like Miley’s “Can’t Stop.”
Here’s Sonny, Joseph, Rafael, Peter, and Robert. They’re listening to Rihanna, “Blurred Lines” and Lana Del Rey.
What’s defining your summer soundtrack right now?

Was that the Gathering of The Gay Juggalos?

This is such an embarrassing list. That many adult people seriously listen to Miley Cyrus? And not a single vote for Get Lucky? Or Vocal (Pet Shop Boys)? Didn’t gay men used to be the taste-makers, on the cutting edge of every trend? I weep for this.

Brittany Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus…Are you serious? Do that many adult gay men really listen to the same music as middle school girls?
