» A Kiss.

Berlin's new gay Holocaust memorial features a video of two men kissing. It's exactly what it sounds like and, quite frankly, a bit boring. There's not even any groping! [Towleroad]

It's a big day in Berlin, where the city's memorial for gay Holocaust victims officially opened. The structure, set up near a larger Holocaust memorial, includes a video loop showing two men kissing and this message, "A simple kiss could land you in trouble."

Social conservatives can be so over dramatic! Anti-gay group Save California equates issuing gay marriage licenses to killing Jews: "Ask your county clerk if they were a Nazi officer during WWII and had been ordered to gas the Jews, would they? At the Nuremberg trials, they would have been convicted of murder for following this immoral order." In what universe does two men or women marrying resemble piles of dead bodies? Seriously, these people must have shit for brains. [Save California via Slog]

The Nazi's gay victims are getting all sorts of (much-needed) attention these days.

Last week we passed on word
that Tel Aviv will erect a memorial for the Holocaust's homo targets. Now, after over a year of waiting, Berlin will soon unveil its constructive commemoration:

It takes the form of a gray concrete slab, with a window to allow visitors to view a video. It cost 600,000 euros (£450,000).

There will be two alternated videos which show either two men kissing or two women kissing.

Originally, the plan was for a video of just two men, but that proposal drew heavy criticism from people who claimed that lesbians were being excluded.

The memorial was developed at the southern edge of the Tiergaten after Danish-Norwegian artistic duo Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset won the artistic competition.

Those of you interested in the horrors of gay life under the regime should check out I, Pierre Seel, Deported Homosexual, a Frenchman's memoir of his experience in (and out) of concentration camps. It's not for the faint of heart, but should be read by everyone.

Tel Aviv will soon erect a monument commemorating the countless queers who died during the Holocaust.

As you can see, the designers have been inspired by the ever-important pink triangle, which gay men wore while in concentration camps.

Lesbians, meanwhile, were meant to wear a black patch, which doesn't seem to have found its way into this particular structure.

OMG! We've got the best news! Anti-gay fascism's alive and well in Rome. Super, right! It's all the rage with the ever-trendy, Mussolini-praising, Holocaust-loving teenaged hooligan masses. And, no, they weren't being ironic:

Right-wing extremists shouting pro-fascist slogans ransacked a gay cultural association in Rome.

A statement from the association, the Mario Mieli Homosexual Cultural Circle, said a large group of youths had burst into the club Thursday evening and trashed the premises. After club members intervened, the vandals ran off, shouting slogans praising Holocaust-era death camps and Benito Mussolini.

Locals blame a tense pre-election climate for the invasion. We blame bad parenting.

The $890,000 monument honoring the Nazi's gay victims should be done within the next few months, said officials in Berlin. Then they'll start working on a memorial for fallen Roma.

Lest you forget, Monday is Britain's national Holocaust Memorial Day. 150 young Brits will stage a remembrance performance at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. And, yes, gay victims are included

Ellen Andersen Can't Resist Venting

Michael Savage sure pissed off Ellen Andersen when he used to his radio show to compare lesbians to Nazi henchmen. Anderson - whose father spent time in a concentration camp - uses this impassioned, yet guilt-ridden post to protest Savage's deplorable comparison.

I recognize that Savage is being hateful to score ratings points and that the more I react to him the more he's "won." But at the same time, Savage’s reflexive invocation of Nazis and the Holocaust is dangerous.

Savage’s diatribe about Nazis and the Holocaust is all about: it’s verbal porn that dehumanizes its subjects—both the “lesbians” and the “oven stuffers”—for the voyeuristic pleasure of his audience.

The scariest part: about 7 million Americans voluntarily watch Savage's show.

Anne Frank may not have been gay, but she was persecuted by the anti-gay Nazis, so she's kind of an ally, right?

German gays are celebrating their pride this month. What better time, then, for Deutsche Welle to remind us of some of the horrors homos once faced:

…The gay pogrom in Germany started exactly 70 years ago, in the summer of 1937. Gestapo men in leather trench coats entered [Alsterhaus department store] during business hours and rounded up about 40 gay employees, who were hauled off in vans waiting out on the street — where this year's gay pride rally will be held.

What followed were weeks and months of "protective custody" and transfers to mental asylums for "curative treatment" and eventual sentencing to imprisonment in concentration camps.

Bill O'Reilly just came in his pants. It's the first time he's ejaculated since 1937.

After a few false starts, the German government has confirmed that Danish-born Michael Elmgreen and Norwegian Ingar Dragset will construct a memorial for gay Holocaust victims. Like the nation's other Holocaust memorials, the queer sculpture will be concrete. The original plan - a box like structure with a video loop of two men kissing - drew criticism for excluding lesbians. The new plan will include ladies. Of the $800,000 project German culture minister Bernd Neumann says:

With the installation of a memorial in the middle of our capital, the resolution by the German government to commemorate the homosexual victims of the Nazi regime is realized.

At least 44, 231 gays died under the Nazi's monstrous "Master Plan".
