The Koch Brothers Invited Billionaire Conservatives To Palm Springs For Something Other Than An Orgy

Over the weekend Charles and David Koch, the Tea Party’s silent financial backers, threw their annual confab to plot strategy with 200 of their closest conservative billionaire buddies. The brothers, whose Americans for Prosperity vehicle funds many Tea Party movements, spent four days with Venn Diagrams and white boards (I imagine) figuring out how to take down the Obama administration, what with its socialized health care and conspiracy theories about climate change. “Our goal must be to beat back the unrelenting attacks and hold elected leaders accountable,” the invitation read. So where, oh where, did the Brothers Koch — together worth an estimated $35 billion, thanks to their firm Koch Industries — choose to host this year’s super secret playdate? At the Rancho Mirage Resort in Palm Springs. Ahem.

While CPAC, the gathering for common conservatives, frets about a bunch of GOProud gays infiltrating the inner sanctum of Obamascare, here we have some of the world’s wealthiest men (and a smattering of women) getting shirtless, drunk, and cannon balling into a resort hotel’s pools in the middle of a gay mecca. Interestingly, the 25 people arrested in Palm Springs this weekend were not part of some Koch-organized sex cruising event. But if you’ve ever seen a gathering of conservatives like the one the Koch brothers put together, you know it’s about as gay as things can get. That a gay cruising spot is just a few steps away, I’m sure, was pure coincidence.
