We love the word “fluid” when it comes to gender and sexuality, and if this video from Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jason Greene (aka Freckle) is to be believed, so do the traditionally masculine “straight” guys so often pined for by gay men.

Of course, it’s not going to resonate with everyone, but anything that chips away at rigidity is aces in our book — isn’t that what just being gay used to be?
And while the video gives us the giggles (as we’ve come to expect from Brian), there’s something actually going on here, because we have had gender fluid friends land some truly hot, straight-perceived guys.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Nip slip…is it?

This and the America’s Next Top Model story with that hunk of a hunk, is the first I’ve heard of “gender/sexual fluid.” Keeping up is hard to do, LOL.
Luis Collazo
Gender fluid means your bisexual stop inventing labels!
Curty
All of these terms are becoming so confusing… look be who you want to be, all of the terms and shit is really not necessary. If you do drag do it. If you are trans be trans. If you’re bi so what… just be honest to your dates, partners and trusted family and friends.
Avery Alvarez
“but anything that chips away at rigidity is aces in our book — isn’t that what just being gay used to be?”
I thought it was about being sexually and romantically attracted to the same sex.
And that is all it means.
All these other definitions that come with a political, social, behavioral, ideological caveat have nothing to do with being gay. If you want to stay on the fringes and chip away at rigidity, then go ahead. If you want to move into the burbs with your partner whom you’re married to and have 2.5 kids, go ahead. Or anything in between.
CaliKyle
Gender fluid does not mean someone is bisexual. My gay bio male fiance(e) identifies as gender fluid – I’ve referred to her with female descriptors and pronouns for past few years – but is definitely NOT bisexual as she’s only attracted to males both sexually and romantically. She dresses like a female, wears make up, has a more feminine appearance than many cis women, but is perfectly happy with her boy body. I think what some are trying to say here is that the straight guys who are attracted to males who id as gender fluid are bisexual and not actually straight. Again I think this is more wrong than right. There are legit straight males who are curious and want to sexually experiment with same sex sex who feel safer doing it with a boy who appears and acts very femme. Acting on a curiosity doesn’t in and of itself doesn’t mean someone hetero is homo. That said, lol when the gender fluid guy in the video mentions always topping straight guys he gets with. That’s been my experience as well. After all, straight guys what it feels like to penetrate someone and are usually most curious about what it feels like to be penetrated by an actual dick, not a dildo or his gf’s strap on.
Bisexual-Transwoman
@Luis Collazo: Exactly.
Personally, I have no desire to be with a hetero/straight guy, and with hearing about how transwomen who got killed by hetero/straight guys I’m not sure why anyone would do something risky like this?
Luis Collazo
Sounds exactly like a bisexual I don’t see the difference in what you said.
Luis Collazo
Nope don’t see a difference if you’re just attracted to women and you’re a woman then you’re a lesbian if you’re just attracted to men then you’re straight if you’re attracted to both you’re bisexual. Nothing you’ve said changes my mind you’re lgbt and that’s all the labels we need turd head!
Luis Collazo
Obviously you haven’t gotten layed in awhile!
Michael Feather
Just admit that you’re transphobic so we can end this discussion
Alfredo
QUITE OBVIOUSLY, MANY MEN HAVE DISCOVERED THE LUXURY OF MALE%MALE SEX. ONE COMMENT, LONG AGO: “MY WIFE EXPECTS ME TO DO EVERYTHING. I RELAX WITH YOU”.
Sansacro
@CaliKyle: People are on a spectrum. But if you’re attracted to a man, even one man, you have bi tendencies, even if you identify as straight. Don’t get the bi-phobia. Sexuality fluidity is a way to distance oneself from bisexuality and maintain straight privilege. Many people have bi tendencies, straight or gay identified. I would say most people, from my experience.
Luis Collazo
Doubt it with your terrible haircut!
Giancarlo85
I’m quite gender fluid and I’m gay. And no, I’m NOT attracted to straight men so people can cut it out with that nonsense. And some need to learn to differentiate between gender and sexual orientation. Anyways, why the need to attract straight guys? This is just getting immature. They ARE NOT ATTRACTED TO YOU. They are attracted to the OPPOSITE GENDER (hence why they are straight).
DarkZephyr
“Gender Fluid” and “Sexually Fluid” are two different things entirely, folks. This is NOT like the guy who came out as “Sexually Fluid”.
And I am with Giancarlo on this one. I do NOT pine after straight guys. Sure I can tell when a straight man is hot, but I only like to date men who are attracted to men, period.
Joe
@Luis Collazo:
Thanks. My ex explain it to me today. I had never heard of it. I had a feeling it was bisexuality. I agree on labels-I’m suck of hearing a new labels. It is like they are “Invented” everyday.
Curty
@Giancarlo85: I thought you were all trans?
Joe
Typo error——-SICK of labels. Never tire of SUCK. HAHAHA!
Curty
@Joe: right just live! Lol
Marky
I think it means they get turned on by guys and or girls or visa versa and it passes back and forth or changes or whatever but the attraction to any one gender… may or may not be constant? Gender fluidity is just another way of saying “Human Development” it seems…?
Marky
Is it gender identity or is it sexuality? I guess that’s sexually fluid. This is really confusing; honestly.
Marky
Oh, just scrolled up. heh
Primadonna
@Bisexual-Transwoman: Many of those transwomen lied to the straight guys by making them think they were natural women.
Primadonna
If you’re a gay guy, you should stop drooling over straight guys. They’re not into you, and you’re just feeding their egos. You’re making all other gays look bad. I, for one, don’t believe that male bisexuality is real. Nature didn’t intend for males to be “sexually fluid”. There is no biological objective for males to be bisexual. Females on the other hand…
Primadonna
And BTW, I know there’s a difference between “gender fluid” and “sexually fluid”. I was just addressing the previous comments about lusting after straight men and so-called bisexuality.
Brian
“Bisexual” is a horrible and imprecise word for 3 reasons:
a) it’s an adjective but is often used incorrectly as a noun.
b) even as an adjective, it suggests that one is simultaneously interested in men and women. Truth is, people who identify as “bisexual” often have phasic attractions to the different genders – ie at different times, and not simultaneously.
c) the prefix “bi” suggests “equal” – ie as in “bisect”, a word which means “to cut an object into two equal halves”. Truth is, people who swing both ways are very rarely equally attracted to men and women. It’s usually weighted towards one gender.
So there you have it – 3 important reasons why “bisexual” is such a ghastly word.
animaux
@Sansacro: Fluid means you can always erase your same sex attraction and become straight. There is nothing more to it.
Bauhaus
@Primadonna:
I’m sexually attracted to and desire both men and women. Always have. Bisexuality in men is real. For many reasons I identify as gay, but sexually, I’m bi.
Brian
@Bauhaus: I’m not taking exception to what you’re saying but I just don’t like the word ‘bisexual’ for the reasons I mentioned above.
Saint Law
@Brian: And because neither sex is attracted to you, Mr Nosexual.
Giancarlo85
@Curty: Trans people are not all the same.
Giancarlo85
And gender fluidity has nothing to do with being sexually fluid. People need to stop trying to equate the two.
Brian
@Giancarlo85: I agree that gender fluidity and sexual fluidity have different definitions.
Giancarlo85
@Brian: You don’t know anything about either of them though and you are completely clueless.
@Brian: And your definition for bisexual is just moronic. First off, bisexual doesn’t mean equal. Again, showing you don’t know what you’re talking about.
kafal
wtf is this gender fluid ? why do people keep inventing new gender/sexuality terms, like please stahp..i would blame tumblr for this.. and i agree with all what Luis collazo wrote here
Marky
I’ve been thinking about it, and in the end I think the sexual fluid label is just what bisexuals call themselves when they want to preserve an air of myyyyssssterrrryyyyyyy. LOL If you’re like one week and guys another, and you admit that’s mutable, congratulations, you’re bisexual, you’re just not into a particular sex at the time. Done. Easy. Gender fluid, seems like a temperamental transsexual person. How much do they have to spend on clothing? That must suck.
Marky
Got it, gender fluid = occasional transvestism. So irrelevant and silly.
inbama
@CaliKyle: Up until very recently, your friend who dressed as a woman to attract straight guys would’ve been considered a drag queen.
Since the Trans have taken over the LGBT movement and been redefining everything for everyone, we’re now supposed to restrict the use of the term “drag queen” to “entertainers.”
I’ve know guys whose entire sex lives were with straight married guys on the “down low,” and even when the “arrangement” went on for years, they still wore drag for their “dates.”
Giancarlo85
@Marky: err wrong. It has nothing to do with bisexuality or tranvestism. Oh wow another ignorant one like Brian. Must be one of Brians other accounts. Your attacks show nothing but your own stupidity and insecurity. Get over yourself please.
You are irrelevant and silly.
@inbama: And yet more unsupported attacks on trans people… What else is new?
inbama
@Giancarlo85:
Sad you couldn’t dispute a single thing I said and resorted to bring accusations.
Giancarlo85
@inbama: Trans people haven’t taken over the LGBTQQI movement. They simply want more recognition in society, and not all of them are certain loudmouths who don’t have any respect for others. Many of them are just trying to live their lives like you.
Eldred
@Luis Collazo: People can label themselves whatever they want to label themselves. Who the hell are you to put restrictions on people and who they are? Get the fuck outta here.
