A-List names and indie queer fare heads up our home entertainment line-up this week. Brad Pitt in Fury, Robert Downey Jr. in The Judge, and some (cute) guys you haven’t yet heard of yet in The Deception (above).
Now for the skinny on each!
($34.99 Blu-ray, $30.99 DVD; Sony)
It’s being called “the tank movie,” but to be more specific this war drama stars Brad Pitt (also serving as a producer) as army sergeant Wardaddy, whose five-man tank crew must strike against the Nazis during WWII’s final weeks. Gripping stuff, well-played even by co-star Shia LaDouche, and surprisingly thoughtful. Extras include deleted and extended scenes, and a handful of behind the scenes featurettes.
($24.99 DVD; Sterling Productions)
Ambitious, “straight” politician Christopher must reconcile his not-so-straight identity and the reappearance of his teenage years’ lover in this drama that interweaves the present and past. Tragically, the director, Jay Durrwachter, passed away during the film’s post production.
($35.99 Blu-ray, $28.99 DVD; Warner)
Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan’s production company makes its debut with this drama starring Downey as a lawyer whose judge father, played by Robert Duvall, is suspected of murder. Extras include a commentary and pair of featurettes.
