Queen Latifah and Taylor Lautner arenât the only things gay in Valentineâs Day, the upcoming flick starring Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Emma Roberts, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, George Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Shirley MacLaine, and, probably, your mother. So too is the romance between the characters played by Bradley Cooper and Eric Dane. But, shock of all shocks, Warner Bros.âs New Line Cinema unit opted not to bring that up in the trailer being pimped to moviegoers.
Valentineâs Day is 2010âs answer to Heâs Just Not That Into You (which also starred Cooper), the Warner Bros./New Line flick that cleaned up at the box office over Valentineâs Day 2009, with a $94 million domestic take. But whereas the gays in Heâs Just Not That Into You were relegated to playing BFFs, Valentineâs Dayâs gays will have starring roles!
But ticket buyers wonât know that in advance, thanks to the gay-neutered trailer thatâs still erily predicable from Hollywood. Instead of Cooper and Daneâs romance (Dane, photographed while filming, plays a closeted football player), viewers are led to believe Cooper and Robertsâ characters are smitten.
Earlier trailers, too, were absent the gay love story:
Does this mean gay moviegoers are going to skip the film? Of course not. We did mention Dane plays a closeted gay footballer player, right?

You neglected to add Topher Grace to your opening sentence
he is a BIG ‘Mo (in more than one way :O ) and his correct
spelling believe it or not is TOPher : P

I saw the trailer when I saw It’s Complicated last week and yes, from the trailer, you think it’s Julia and Brad in love.
So, this is how movies are going to be promoted with gay content, eh?
Hmm.

Mmmmmmmm…..I love white people. They make the world seem like candy land. Can Bradley Cooper bet any hotter.I love his bedroom eyes.
This movie is for the birds.
Sexy Rexy
A closeted gay athlete….how original, NOT.

Besides Jodie’s boyfriend on Soap 32 years ago, what else has featured closeted athletes?
And on a side note, good lord, Soap was 32 years ago?

“Does this mean gay moviegoers are going to skip the film?”
This one will be…
I’ve never cared for romantic comedies…It also features Taylor Swift, Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, and Julia Roberts all in one movie, and they felt compelled to use that god awful Black Eyed Peas song in the trailer. No thank you.
choicecut
hollywood’s white teeth brigade attacks valentine’s day without a gay in sight? The end is near.
Warner Bros is homophobic
What do you expect from Warner Bros? They’re one of the most homophobic studios in Hollywood.

I’m so embarrassed to say that I really want to see this movie. I mean the Jessica Alba and Beil are so hilarious in the trailer. And now Bradley Cooper going gay.
This movie looks fantastic, and I need to take a shower for thinking that.

@FakeName: The U.S. version of Queer As Folk featured a closeted football player.

Also, Million Dollar Baby left out the part about euthanasia….

See…I see this as a way to get people into the theatre and then show them a series of couples in love…including a gay one. Subtle subversion. I’m okay with that.

Bradley Cooper is absolutely gorgeous! I cannot wait to see this! It has loads of my favourite people in it, but Bradley Cooper is just pure sexy đ

Well… it is a cute movie. despite all the comments about the gay thing and not included ( gay thing again) in the trailer and what ever, I think in any relationship would be incredibly sweet flying 14 hours just to see your partner. And the way he comes with the yellow flowers… that’s really nice.
Tho it was unexpected, for me it’s still very sweet ^^ . I don’t think we mind at all the fact that studios “dn’t bring that up in the trailer being pimped to moviegoers” .

@scott ny’er:
That’s what I thought, too. He’s a tool. But he was surprisingly non-tool-like in this and I didn’t hate him. He’s kind of the kicked puppy of the film, so. Enjoy his misery?
