Never thought I’d see the day Novak Djokovic made it as an article on a gay web page. Appreciate he has a record of support of gay issues, but not the image (in my POV) that meets the criteria of this site.
Djokovic is complicated… I dunno if you’ve ever been to Serbia but his support has made a big difference for LGBT athletes in Eastern Europe.
The lockdowns in Europe were nothing like what we had in America, even places like NYC. You needed a legal justification to step into your garden. I think it was a massive abuse of the State‘s authority and it didn’t actually contain the virus. I get it, so many people were dying and governments needed to appear to be doing something.
Djokovic is old enough to remember life behind the Iron Curtain and I think all of us who can remember life in Communism are suspicious of the government encroaching into our private life.
