This week trans filmmaker Lana Wachowski made her first big public appearance since transitioning to discuss her next mega-blockbuster, Cloud Atlas, starring Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Tom Hanks.
Formerly known as Larry, Lana and her brother, Andy, shepherded one of the most popular sci-fi franchises of the early 2000s with the Maxtrix trilogy. She also co-directed the iconic lesbian film Bound and wrote the script for V for Vendetta (The less said about Speed Racer the better.)
Here the siblings and director Tom Tykwer discuss Atlas, based on the novels by David Mitchell and set for a release later this year.
Future projects for the Wachowskis include a modern adaptation of Robin Hood, and the sci-fi feature Jupiter Ascending. Sadly their gay romance/conspiracy thriller, CN-9, failed to find financing.

I wish her my best. I am a fan of most of her movies. There is no greater piece of mind than living your personal truth.

I think it’s great to finally meet her this way.
and I think she looks totally awesome. love it. she does seem a bit shy. I hope she breaks out of her shell a bit more. I think she probably has tons of amazing things to tell us.

She looks great and I love their films, esp. Bound and the V For Vendetta adaptation was pretty good.
Cloud Atlas sounds interesting (and ambitious).
