To paraphrase a classic comedy routine from Sandra Bernhard, after the nuclear apocalypse only the strongest of the species will survive — Madonna is still with us. But curiously, so is Terrence Howard. The two entertainers costar in the video for “Ghosttown,” the latest single from the Queen of Pop’s acclaimed album Rebel Heart. In the clip for the haunting ballad, Madonna and Howard are the only survivors of a horrifying nuclear disaster, well, besides a little boy who spies on them, so how else can they face the darkest days except dance a torrid tango among the rats and wolves and burning automobiles? And Madge, about that grill…

Great song. Great album. Decent enough video.
One thing though……..With fires burning everywhere, why does she need her grille?

Instead of “dazzling” us with images in the form of videos, why doesn’t Madonna start making good music? Videos are so yesterday. Her latest album has flopped on the charts.
Also, her long hair has to go. She looks like a 57 year old woman trying to maintain the long hair of a 25 year old bimbo.

Acclaimed album? Not only have the reviews I’ve read been negative, the album has been a resounding financial flop. While inagree she is a supporter and should be respected, calling the album “aclaimed” seems a bit excessive.

LOL. Anyone calling the album a flop with only negative reviews are clearly looking at things from a very myopic perspective. The album has received a very good amount of positive reviews. It debuted #1 on the top album-sales chart in the US which mirrors the classic measurement of sales. It was #2 on the Billboard 200 chart which no longer just counts album sales but also counts streaming with its own arbitrary formula. It debuted at #1 on the WORLDWIDE album charts and dropped only to #3 in its second week, and in its third week is still in the top10. By comparison, Kelly Clarkson’s album, released a week before Rebel Heart, debuted at #4 on the worldwide charts, with 200k fewer sales, dropped to #14 in its 2nd week, dropped to #29 in its 3rd week, and fell out of the top40 in its 4th week. Also, by comparison, Kelly’s album sold 80k copies its first week vs 121K for Madonna and her first single received tons more airplay than Madonna’s first single. Compared to Taylor Swift, yes, Madonna’s album didn’t perform nearly as well. But Madonna is 30 years into a career AND it was released with a Parental Advisory, which is almost the kiss of death for an album’s sales unless you’re a rapper. Yes, there was a clean version, but who wants that?

@jason smeds:
Flopped? She opened at #1 world wide LOL
How many singers can do that, especially after some criminal has
already leaked for free her songs on the internet.
Watch for the biggest money making tour ever, that is what Madonna does.

@surfnspy: \
Do you have idea how much money Madonna makes between album and concert tour sales?
We are talking few hundreds of $ millions, her last tour alone made over
$300 millions, by comparison Beyonce only took $100 millions.
You are talking about one of the most powerful entertainers on the entire
planet.
And She is also more popular outside the USA, in case you are wondering the
USA is no longer the top market for music, world wide sales way out class
USA sales.

Love the video…

@surfnspy: Actually, the album IS acclaimed. According to Metacritic, which combines reviews from EVERY major publication (Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, L.A. Times, Chicago Tribune, etc….) the ablum’s combined score is 68%. The reviews are almost evenly split between positive and mixed, with ZERO negative. That’s right….zero negative. So, I’m not sure what “reviews” you have been reading………besides your own.
