At 11:10 pm on Tuesday, May 6th, a gay couple was viciously attacked inside of Dallas BBQ in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood.
Jonathan Snipes, 32, says that he and his boyfriend, Ethan York-Adams, 25, were targeted specifically because they’re gay.
They were bashed over the head with a wooden chair, thrown to the ground and repeatedly kicked by two men shouting anti-gay slurs.
Warning: graphic video:
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
DNAinfo reports that Snipes accidentally knocked over a drink, which led to the two attackers taking notice of the couple.
“A table near us audibly started making pretty gross comments about the two of us like, ‘White faggots, spilling drinks,’” Snipes said.
“I don’t let anyone talk to me like that. I went over there and asked, ‘What did you say about us?’” he added.
That’s when things suddenly escalated. One of the two men stood up and started to get physical.
“I may be a mouthy broad, but I wasn’t going to take it to that level,” Snipes said.
Snipes said the men threw them to the ground, saying “Take that, faggot” as they kicked them. One of Snipes’ teeth was knocked loose, his head was bruised, and cartilage in his ear snapped.
The two attackers fled the restaurant while the couple awaited medical attention. No arrests have been made.
“We want this to go viral,” the couple’s friend Sarah Meyers told DNAinfo. “We need to find him. My friend could have been killed.”
An NYPD spokesman said an investigation is ongoing, but that the incident was not currently being investigated as a hate crime by the department’s Hate Crime Task Force.
Um, and why not??
Here is more video from the attack:

Appalling. That was a HARD hit. And how can it NOT be investigated as a hate crime? It was both homophobic *and* racially motivated.

@QJ201: What a man. He ran away! I hope someone identifies that man. That is a gruesome video.
lauraspencer
Very scary and sad.
As a New Yorker, what is left out of this story is that Chelsea is no longer the gay epi-center it was in the 90s or even 5 years ago. It is more straight and family oriented than it ever has been. Thanks gay gentrification!
As for Dallas BBQ it attracts a large African American clientele. For years Dallas BBQ on west 23rd and 8th has lived in “harmony” with the gays, but I don’t find it surprising that these two very different groups have clashed.

Disgusting. What a fucking pussy ass to hit him from behind, a real man would’ve wanted a fair fight, not cheat his way by using a chair on the poor guy while he isn’t looking. Its time to post where these haters live so we can burn them out and hope they are inside when we do so.

Liberals are amongst the most homophobic people out there, especially when it comes to their views on male homosexual affections. This is why I would never walk hand-in-hand with another man in New York City. You risk getting bashed.
Conservatives are bad, of course, but their opposition to homosexuality is usually based on the Bible. Liberals’ opposition to homosexuality is usually based on the “ewww” factor, and that’s why it’s potentially even more dangerous than the homophobia of conservatives.
Stan Schulz
This what New York idiots get for voting DeBlasio. Bet you’re missing your stop and frisk now.
Paco
There is just something strange about a person uploading such a horrific incident to Instagram while making sure his audience knows what he ordered for dinner in the caption.
Saint Law
@jason smeds: You’d welcome being bashed tho, bitch. At least it would be some attention.
As it is, the only person you’re likely to walk hand-in-hand with anywhere is yourself.
Saint Law
@Stan Schulz: You could do with a punch in the face. Srsly. It would do you a power of good.
Saint Law
The r*cist gobshytes are all over this. it makes one wonder how they explain gay bashings committed by white people?
Actually it doesn’t. One doesn’t look for consistency from r*cist gobshytes.
P.S. Sorry for the * but Queerty automatically moderates any post with the word r*cist in it.
DarkZephyr
@Saint Law: If you are including me among the “r*cist gobshytes” merely because I pointed out the fact that the *basher* is r*cist, let me explain why I brought it up. Because I think its absurd that the cops do not see this as a hate crime. They were called anti-gay slurs and the bashers called them “white f*ggots”. This has been stated all over the internet including in this very article, I did NOT call it “racially motivated” based on the color of the basher’s skin. Frankly with the lighting of the video I couldn’t tell much about his skin color. Pointing out their skin color before beating the crap out of them AND calling them anti-gay slurs are two very good reasons to investigate this as a hate crime. Arcamenel claims that this wasn’t in any way racially motivated, yet if it wasn’t, why did the color of the gay men’s skin matter to the basher? Clearly it did and pointing this fact out is not r*cist in the slightest bit. Its simply a fact and and a damned good reason for this to be investigated as a hate crime. I am assuming that you are appalled by this act and want to see justice for your gay brothers that were victimized by violent homophobes.
Clark35
I hope they find the person who did this.
Daws
This is why you shouldn’t engage hateful, antagonistic folk. You don’t know what they’re willing to do. This guy was apparently ready to murder the dudes. I hope they catch his ass.
Cagnazzo82
Once they catch the person responsible for this (which they will) his life is basically over.
The fact that he walked out of the store immediately after this happened means that NY cameras followed him either to his car or where he lives.
He’s going to regret this night for the rest of his life.
MarionPaige

The guy that uploaded the bashing was interviewed by New York Daily News and is claiming that Snipes sparked the brawl by taking a swing at the man. He is also claiming that he didn’t hear any gay slurs being used. Of course, his frivolous caption for his upload, treating the bashing like table side entertainment while he waited for his order, makes me question his account of things.
jwtraveler
@Luis H. Lopez: NONSENSE!
Masc Pride
@Paco: I read the Daily News story too. It is a very different account. But even here, Snipes admits he went over to this guy to confront him. As far as the witness/camera man, the location along with the caption makes it seem like he’s probably gay too (the cheeky description, the gay lingo, the frozen appletini). Not to link effeminacy with homosexuality, but it was a gayborhood and who else would describe such a situation like this in such a campy manner? I’m picturing a future Drag Race contestant.
Kangol
@Arcamenel: The cops will find this guy. There have to be people there who recognized the basher, or he’ll run his mouth, and he and his friend will be caught. What a horrible, homophobic attack, though!
ChgoReason
Tuesday, May 6th* Perhaps.
Paco
@Masc Pride: It would be a shocker if the guy that used the chair, turned out to be gay himself. It would turn this story into just another drunken barroom brawl. Sometimes it is best to let things go unchallenged, especially if you aren’t physically prepared to defend yourself. I think this generation has forgotten that the power (and protection) they have online doesn’t really mean much in the real world when fists (and chairs) begin to fly.

Chelsea is 100% gay any one going out in Chelsea and behaving like that is a
F-ing N-er, take it as you like, this is exactly the typical homophobic and R-ist
black man.
No pity, no excuses, and yes it is hate crime because they did use gay slur, and they felt the need to use the word white as it was some thing dirty.
I hope some one recognize them and they go to jail.
The judge should make an example out of this people, because frankly,
how can anyone feel secure when absurd things like this can happen?
Realitycheck
@McShane:
I suspect the attackers were not from NYC, in chelsea there are several projects,
but mostly local folks are very nice and open minded.
Only out of manhattan homophobes would behave like that, and
to be honest now a day most gay live all over NYC, in Brooklyn, Queens and
even the Bronx.
But never underestimate the power the media, someone one will recognize that
monster.
Realitycheck
Guys repost the video to your Instagram, Facebook and twitter accounts,
the more people see it the more likely the perpetrator will be recognized.
Realitycheck
Ironically on the guy instagram account there is a picture of solange arriving with a date at the Met Gala and the guy looks exactly like the attacker.
Gary_Gans
@Luis H. Lopez: So you are advocating shootouts in restaurants? I know 23rd & 8th in Chelsea. If you’re advocating this as a solution wouldn’t this up the potential that these perpetrators would have also packed heat, and the outcome could be far worse? This crime was already distressing. Guns would not help, and NYC is not Texas. NYC has one of the lowest crime rates because of the lack of guns. Dallas BBQ has CCTV, so they should have video to aid in identification. At that point the Courts and the Prosecuters will take this to task, and the NYPD will not need to designate it as the Hate Crime it is. Leave that to the Courts and the LGBTQ Community will assure that this finds justice.
jason smeds
I would recommend to homosexual-identifying men to get fit in a gym and learn to defend yourselves. You never know when that extra muscle might come in handy. There are homophobes everywhere, including the most liberal enclaves of New York City.
misterhollywood
Wow that was really hard to watch. Honestly, the dude who bashed with the chair needs to have the favor returned in kind and when he least expects it. It looks like other people were around too with phones to take pictures and vids. Hopefully they will catch the scumbag who did this. Gay people everywhere should learn self-defense. Go for the gonads, eyes, throat. Do whatever you have to do. I hope the guy who got bashed is OK. He got hit super hard. I can’t imagine he didn’t go to the hospital.
darian
I know I said earlier that no one deserves to be hit, but in retrospect if you get in someone’s face because of words then you better be ready to throw a chair your damn self. Now do I agree with what this man did hell no. Sometimes its just best to walk away.
Franklin
You know, there are so many times where I grow so weary of being a black man in the American gay community. It seems like any incident involving someone black brings out the worst in gay men.

Arcamenel
@DarkZephyr: It’s a hate crime because he called him anti-gay slurs (allegedly), not for calling him white. White people aren’t covered under race based hate crime laws because white people aren’t disenfranchised and marginalized solely for being white. They have to fall within some other minority group like being disabled or queer.
darian
@Realitycheck: I agree throwing chairs or any type of furniture is far from logical. At the same time getting up out of your seat going over to someone to argue with them because the hurt your feelings isn’t the most logical thing either is all in saying. We as a society have gotten comfortable with arguing behind keyboards forgetting that there are people out in the world who don’t mind showing you how much they hate you.

Oh Woah! That is fucked upp!! What some assholes!

@Paco: Seriously doubt that’s how it happened but does explain the cops not calling it a hate crime. I’d be willing to bet that the camera guy and thug would match each other pretty well in a line up if you know what I mean. You’re not exactly in a jury of your piers.
Stache99
@Realitycheck: When someone assaults me while yelling profanities about my race it sure as hell is about race.
Blackceo
@darian:
I feel a couple ways about this. Nowadays people can’t just leave it to words and fists and want to pull out weapons and shit so it is risky engaging an ignorant person. On the other hand, I don’t blame the guy for wanting to stand up for himself. I’m glad there were other people coming to the victim’s aid, but Im also pissed people seem to take out there phones and think of this as a YouTube or Instagram moment. Yes, the video will be helpful in the investigation but damn my inclination would be to try and break it up. I see the guy who originally posted it has taken it off his Instagram account, hopefully because it is in the hands of the police. The guy who was kicking and threw a chair at them needs to be dealt with aggressively. And yes, if a white guy came up to me and called me a Black fa*ggot I would consider him both r*acist and anti-gay so why shouldn’t this man be considered the same for calling them white fa*ggots. This is disgusting. You need to act like a wild ape because of a spilled drink? FOH!!!!!!!

Black on white crime…..with the F word thrown in! Gee, that NEVER happens……and if you say that it does, you’re a rac*st.
What part of this does not scream “hate crime”?
In fact, the only place you’ll read about it is on gay sites or the gay section of other sites. And on all the online sites, you’ll see it reported as two gay men attacked by MAN in the headlines……….Of course the fact that the attacker was a BLACK man is irrelevant, until you get to around the 3rd paragraph of any story.
Do you think there will be any looting or rioting over this?
So @Franklin: Sorry that you feel that way, but in many other cases, it seems like any incident involving someone gay brings out the worst in black men.
Captain Obvious
@Realitycheck: So because this person was black you feel the need to hurl slurs at the rest of us and say typical homophobic black man as if all black men are homophobic and no black men are gay?
You sound privileged and ignorant right now.
Kieran
I’m sure “the Rev” Al Sharpton will be scheduling a rally to protest this violence against gays in NYC. We all know how color-blind Al is after all. LOL
darian
@Blackceo: Right and I agree with all of that but what I’m saying is all it would take is some slick lawyer to argue that the assailant felt threatened because he was approach by mr.snipes and defended himself then the guy could get off Scott free to do it again. And I don’t blame him either for wanting to stand up for himself you just have to know when to do it.
@Stache99: “Seriously doubt that’s how it happened but does explain the cops not calling it a hate crime. I’d be willing to bet that the camera guy and thug would match each other pretty well in a line up if you know what I mean. You’re not exactly in a jury of your piers.”
What is that supposed to mean? Because the cameraman and the attacker are the same color that the cameraman is liar?
TomOH
Unlike these phony cake shops and automotive shops whining that their “religious freedom” is “under attack” – this is a crystal clear video of gay folks literally being attacked for who they are. These guys really deserve a GoFundMe to help them out with their medical expenses and time off work to recover. If anyone knows them personally they should set one up for them.
Captain Obvious
These videos start after the fight has already started. None of you even know what the fight is even about, how it got started, or why.
Why all this judgment and deciding that it’s about homophobia? Considering how much the N-word is being thrown around in mere commentary about the video I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy in question was called the N-word in the first place.
All I keep seeing is how gay means white and white gay men are victimized by all black men who are all homophobic even if they’re gay(because they can’t be gay since they’re black)
darian
@lykeitiz: No one is saying it doesn’t happen what many gay black males are saying is don’t lump us all together with blatant r*c*st statements like “As for Dallas BBQ it attracts a large African American clientele.” or “Seriously doubt that’s how it happened but does explain the cops not calling it a hate crime. I’d be willing to bet that the camera guy and thug would match each other pretty well in a line up if you know what I mean. You’re not exactly in a jury of your piers.” or the many more I’m sure are likely to follow. Yes this man is clearly a bigot and there are black bigots as well but to link us all to him is just as r*c*st as they are.
cguzmannyc
That video is shocking to watch
I can tell you, from first hand experience, the clientele at Dallas BBQ on 23/8 are mostly non-neighborhood residents or even neighborhood adjacent residents.
There is sometimes an uneasy presence in that Dallas BBQ location, as you can feel the thick of homophobia in the air
I completely get that it is nice to explore other neighborhoods and experience better services that you might not receive somewhere else. That’s fine. We should all be able to eat wherever we’d like. That said, if you go into one of the predominately gay neighborhoods of NYC, for dinner or lunch, or to even walk around, expect to be surrounded by THE GAYS (or in the case of Chelsea, now, baby strollers). The gay slur just doesn’t go over well, anywhere.
You definitely do not receive the warm Chelsea vibe, or welcome, that you get in other establishments in the neighborhood.
jsmu
Face it. Black churches SCREAM homophobia from every pulpit; black sports figures mouth slurs like ‘faggot’ constantly. Black ‘society’ is a hundred and fifty years behind the times on this and other subject, and its virulent racism and homophobic bigotry produce thugs like the Neanderthal felons who committed this assault. This behavior is LEARNED AT HOME AND AT ‘CHURCH.’!
OrchidIslander
@Franklin: I hear you brother. Gay men harbor so many prejudices. When I saw the attacker was a black man, I was reluctant to read the comments section because I knew his race – and, by implication anyone else black – was going to be the dominate and unsavory theme.
Remember the gay-bashing incident in Philly? A group of whites physically assaulted a couple of gay men. Three were charged, including a police chief’s daughter.
Not one Queerty commenter had anything at all to say about those attacker’s race. Not one.
Throw in a f’uped black attacker and guess what? It is all about race – someone else s race apparently.
@RealityCheck – words cannot adequately describe the low level of humanity that you exist upon. It’s guys like you that make black guys like me want absolutely nothing to do with the “gay community.”
Realitycheck
@darian:
True we should all be more careful, at the same time, everybody
should learn there are consequences to their actions.
Hopefully the assailant will be apprehended and the judge
will make an example of him, because a serious example needs

@jason smeds: You out of all people are telling other guys to go to the gym? When was the last time you went to a gym? The 1980s?
Realitycheck
@Captain Obvious:
Who are you selling this crap to? For real? How about those nice black radio
stations advocating all gay men should be put to death?
I have yelled so many times at black cab drivers for playing them when I was
riding the cab at night in NYC.
And did you see the black guy at the end of the second video? He went
to the two guys to take a picture, NOT to see if he could help or call
an ambulance, nice!!!
Lets call it as it is, homophobia, because 2 gay men were involved and the
black guy went as far has using a chair to hit them.
And lets call it R-ism because they were white and the word white did fly.
lets call it hate crime, because it started by hateful gay slurs and went as far as
hateful physical assault.
You are right we don’t know how the fight started, and we will find out,
because there were plenty of eye witnesses.
But are you really going to tell us the gay guy went to a table of tall and
beefy black guy to trow a fight with out reason? Hello????
That said I apologies I should have used the word “typical” because it makes
sound like all black man are violent and homophobic and that is not true, many
are good guys.

Here we go again. @jsmu: For every one of those things you’ve pointed out I could find three other examples that white people have done shit if I go back far enough and find worse but using generalizing examples doing so under minds the white people who oppose it and makes me just as bigoted as the people I’m talking about.
I hope the next person who decides to get on here and make similar claims read some of these and keep their comments to this one particular jackass and leave the rest of us out of this.
Blackceo
@jsmu:
Here we go. Incidents like this also allow some gays to express their not so subtle rac*ism toward Blacks. You just generalized an entire group of people with that ignorant comment.

I’ve never thought that Dallas BBQ area as gay friendly. A couple of further blocks down is really where it begins.
That chair shot had so much rage and anger, that it is sort of scary.
Cagnazzo82
Basically the gist of the comments: When white presidents, or white politicians, or white popes/clergy/fundamentalists, or white gay bashers in general attack gays, then it’s the fault of christianity, or fundamentalism, or conservatism or this and that.
When a black gay basher attacks gays then it is the fault of all black people on earth. Even black gays are lumped in there. Meanwhile it’s still the first black president who advanced gay rights more than any other white person in either his or the opposing party. Meanwhile all white male politicians running for the presidency are dead set on rolling back gay rights.
Maybe I should start blaming all white gays as well for the actions every white homophobic act in America. Where would I even begin and where would it end?
stadacona
Left wing media covering up the blatant racial aspect of this story. One major factor in the USA s decline is that a significant proportion of its black population (significantly higher than any other race) feels it has a right to engage in criminal behavior, and then violently riots against any reaction by law abiding society. Even worse is the media that abets this destructive behavior. Only blacks can solve this issue.
Blackceo
@stadacona:
There is so much white privilege and ignorance in that statement; just dripping with stupidity.
darian
@Cagnazzo82: @stadacona: Lets not use arguments like these to end this cycle of r*c*sm by pointing fingers saying look this race does this or this race does that. No one person or collective of people that represent all people of that race. Period. To think so is just plain asinine.
darian
@Blackceo: This also isn’t a left right this is a people issue that politics can’t solve so leave that out of it
darian
@Blackceo: Sorry that was for@stadacona:

@QJ201: You said: “That BBQ joint does not attract “the chelsea crowd” and I’ll leave it at that”. True enough. It’s a black, straight crown that goes to this place. Hence the trouble. BTW, these victims did NOT say they were targeted because they are gay. Where’d Queerty get that from? (they made it up because they’re ideologues). This is all over a spilled drink. Just like Aaron Hernandez killed the guy b/c the guy spilled a drink on him. Apparently spilled drinks are enraging, right? OMG. This is really awful, yes, but the blacks are all upset and waging a race war, and we gays will be the victims because they hate us and because they can. Fight back gentlemen, fight back. These gays fought back, and I’m proud.
Saint Law
@stadacona: With what we are learning about policing of the black population in Baltimore, where, for a generation now, black people have been systematically targeted by cops for arrest, assault, incarceration and murder on No Probable Cause whatsoever – how even a rightwing shitbag such as yourself can still come out with: “It’s up for the black population to sort out”…!

You know what, TECHNICALLY, it isn’t an assault in NYC unless the guys were hurt. AND, the alleged “victims” here weren’t smart enough (at least by available reports) to go to the hospital (reportedly, the victims claimed to not have medical insurance and to not be able to afford the ambulance).
The “alleged victims” were apparently seen by paramedics so, I’m sure they and the cops will claim that that proves they were hurt. However,
Anyone arrested can and most probably will argue that the alleged victims here weren’t hurt – so therefore no crime took place. THIS IS HOW IT WOULD PLAY OUT of it weren’t for the RACE FACTOR.
Realitycheck
@MarionPaige:
Well, It is assault because there is a video as big as the niagara falls,
showing the assault, and the police and the paramedic saw
the end results, so an hospital report is not necessary, I would guess
given the press attention, the two guys have most likely got some
legal advise by now and medical treatment.
If found, the assailant will most likely serve few years in jail.
This is not a few months in jail type of crime, because of the video,
the reaction on this boards alone should give us an idea of how the jury
will react to the video.
Frankly it doesn’t even matter how it all started because of what the video shows.

I travel a lot and I have been assaulted for being a foreigner in the UK, Paris airport and even Japan, the most r-ist (passive aggressive) country on earth.
I suspect you have been seriously effected by this video and news in
general and you are getting a wrong idea of the USA, I assure you,
if you are gay, the USA is the best place to be, bar none
Reading the crime tabloid of any country will give you a seriously negative
image of that country.
It is easy to dictate, “my country is better then, and I am lucky” Honestly you
sound like an ignorant foul when you say things like that.
As they say in Europe, the entire world is country.

‘Throw in a f’uped black attacker and guess what? It is all about race – someone else s race apparently.”
Hmm…the attacker yelled ‘white fa**ots’. The attacker made it a race issue. The attackers in Philly didn’t make it a race issue because they didn’t call the victims ‘white fa**ots’
So many disingenuous people here
Cagnazzo82
@Brycedavid: That’s because the attackers in Philly were also white. What sense would it make for them to call their victims ‘white fa**ts’ when they’re also white?
If a black homophobe attacks black gays they would just as well call them ‘fa**ts’ rather than ‘black fa**ts’.
Do you honestly presume black homophobes discriminate the gays they dislike based on skin color? Surely you weren’t born under a rock to presume black gays get a free pass. Because the notion could not be any more diametrically opposed from reality.

A big question to be answered by this is – Do we have the right to try and physically assault someone if they call us a gay slur? The witness that filmed it seems to be maintaining that Snipes was the one that made the altercation physical, according to what I just read at CBS New York. It will be interesting to see what is found on the cctv tapes from the restaurant. You can’t take a swing at someone and then claim you are a complete victim. Can you?
It’s also interesting how some sites are using the video but leaving out his account of what happened. I guess the whole truth will come out once the guy they are searching for has been questioned and surveillance tapes have been looked at. Until that happens, I am going to stop short of calling it a hate crime.
MarionPaige
@Paco: “The witness that filmed it seems to be maintaining that Snipes was the one that made the altercation physical …”
The guy who took the video also says he didn’t hear any homophobic slurs.
But, it’s all academic … You have a White Guy Pleading Victim in New York City – that’s pretty much all it takes for an arrest and conviction OF SOMEBODY BLACK.
I walked out of my apartment a few years ago and was promptly slapped in the face by my psycho hard up White Neighbor. When I called the police, they didn’t even get out of their car – claiming that there was no crime because I wasn’t hurt.
I did a blog years ago about who is arrested for assault when there is a fight in NYC:
1. If both parties are of the same race and same sex – no one is arrested as the parties will just accuse each other of assault.
2. If one of the parties is female, the man is arrested
3. If one of the parties is seriously injured the least seriously injured party is arrested.
4. If one of the parties is White, the non-White party is arrested.

@Cagnazzo82:
>>Do you honestly presume black homophobes discriminate the gays

Irrelevant, in a court of law you go by facts and evidence, if the black guy did
yell “White F-gts” he made it a race issue.
Realitycheck
@Paco:
Two wrong don’t make it one right, assuming what you say is true, the other guy didn’t need to smash them with a chair and then some more, the right thing to do was to call the police.
Realitycheck
@MarionPaige:
That is not factual, I know that for a fact, first hand experience,
your experience doesn’t reflect all cases, the police will listen to who did what and any witness, there is no such a thing as automatic arrest.

Jeez, what are you doing to provoke attacks in all of these places? I travel a lot as well and, knock on wood, no one’s ever been worse than brusque for the sake of efficiency. Mostly everyone’s been pretty nice everywhere I’ve gone.

@Saint Law: We Americans also thank Goddess you are not American. Not because of your comments, but because pf your hypocrisy. State your country and give me an opportunity to comment on the state of affairs where you live. I’m well traveled….
Bernard Galeano
i think until we hear the whole story its unfair to pass judgement
Paco
@Realitycheck: you’re right. Violence isn’t the answer and the victim was obviously not a threat to the attacker, as evidenced by the video. The part I am struggling with is how it needlessly escalated to that point. When confronted with a belligerent homophobe, like it or not, we do play a role in the outcome of that confrontation. Even if we are on the side of goodness and light, we usually have a choice in how things will play out. The evening could have ended quite differently for the victim if he had kept his cool. Not saying it was right that he got attacked, I found it deplorable and it made me angry, but he did play a role that left him sitting stunned in a chair while his boyfriend was knocked unconscious on the floor.
My choice would have been to complain to management, maybe get a discount for my meal and take my boyfriend home so we could nurse our bruised egos instead of patching up our wounds. But that’s just me.

Don’t forget that some of us black people are Gay too…Just Saying from some of these hateful comments I’ve read up top…

To those who have their knives, pitchforks and lynching ropes out, put it away until all the facts come out. And from what I’m hearing from ” actual ” witnesses who were there, the gay couple may not be so innocent after all. I know that’s gonna be hard for many HERE to accept. Because when the victims are portrayed as gay, young, white and goodlooking, sympathy, empathy,
unbridled compassion, and oh yeah, r@cism just flies out the door. Espicall if the perpertrators are black, or preceved as being black.
Account of witnesses there:
1. One of the gay guys walked over to the table.
2.One the gay guy throws the first punch.
3.No one heard r@cial epithets being thrown.
4. Both of the gay couples were fighting: mutual combate.
5.One of the gay guys kicked the guy in the head while he was on the ground, before he hit the guy in the head with a chair.
So lets wait until all the facts come out before making ourselves look foolish.

And what I left out of my first post is, according to withnesses there, the obove recordings are recordings of events happening during the “middle” of the altercation.

@darian:
Darian I agree I wouldn’t have gotten up either, probably called the police if it had escalated, but I would have felt horrible for being a coward.
Lets face it, this is a basket case situation, and that black guy is in trouble
for acting like a neanderthal.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, I do travel a lot for work,
anyone that has been to japan more then once or twice will
have some r-ist story to tell you.
Most Japanese are r-ist to the bone, they don’t care what color you are,
if you sit down on the train or a coffe shop they will move away.
In Japan to offend people they give nasty faces, they will follow you around with a nasty face, google r-ism in Japan and be shocked.
Only big city like Tokyo are more safe.
UK, lots of guys trying to get in to a fight at night, after they drink…
I guess that is more rowdiness.
Paris, that was black gay guy, “surprise”, he was a flight attendant,
she forcefully pulled me out of the checking counter, while the guy checking me and my BF started yelling at him, why did he do that?
The usual crazy F-g, no brains all estrogen. I did write down a complain
about him, hopefully he got fired, simply because I would not want
him to do it to anyone else.
Realitycheck
@Paco:
Paco I would have done the same, It is just that I am so tired of these uneducated garbage that is always ready to scream the F word.
And it is disturbing to see this in Chelsea, the one place in NYC one should be safe.
I see guys holding hands everywhere in NYC with out any problem, so like
you I really don’t understand how this escalated so fast.
May be the gay guy was acting too aggressive, but that is no excuse for
violence, my immediate reaction, would have been to call the police and ask
for help before the situation did escalate and some one got hurt.
I’ll tell you this, many in the local community are very upset and if the guy is local
they will find him.

So lets see what happens.

Dallas BBQ is not a gay bar. This horrible attack happened in the most liberal city in America, which just goes to prove that just because a place is allegedly liberal doesn’t mean they’re exempt from being attacked. I know of conservative places where something like this would never have happened.
