God bless LGBT Hollywood‘s heart. On the red carpet of AFI’s Night at the Movies, where the films of Cher, Sally Field, Kathy Bates and Harrison Ford were being honored, LGBT Hollywood tried their darndest to get the icons to sound off on gay marriage. To hilarious effect.
Asked what her Moonstruck character Loretta Castorini would say about marriage equality, Cher, clearly caught off guard, quickly remembered how she snatched that Best Actress Oscar to begin with — “SNAP OUT OF IT!” Sadly, no one was slapped, and her Cherness disappeared in a cloud of wigs and Bob Mackie sequins.
Sally Field, perhaps still coming off a Boniva high, seems to think she’s Norma Rae, or vice versa. Either way, both of them are for marriage equality without question.
Harrison Ford (for the record an Oscar nominee) seems game at the beginning after his handler points out the giant rainbow mic in front of him, but then he was asked who he’d gay-marry, his response:
Kathy Bates, who seems to be the only one with the time and/or the patience to stop for a chat, reveals that she’s getting ready to play a lesbian and asks for some advice. That’s when the unseen interviewer sees her chance and goes in for a hug…because she’s her number one fan.
But more importantly, Bates had the best answer to the marriage quality question: “Abso-fucking-lutely.”

HAAAAAAAAH !
Last voice at the end “I’m not a lesbian can I get a hug?”

Good for the interviewer for being so aggressive – otherwise celebs will often just walk past and ignore small media. Why do they bother giving media passes to people if the celebs won’t give them time? Good job.

Harrison Ford’s reaction was…odd. Kathy Bates – AMAZING!

I love Kathy Bates. She is a pretty fierce old lady. I miss Harry’s Law. 🙁

I think Harrison Ford might be losing it a bit because of age… He didn’t seem to understand the questions at first.
