Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes dedicates one of his platform issues to “homosexual rights”.
We’ve underlined some of our favorite parts: In terms of civil rights discrimination, it is wrong to treat sexual orientation like race, for race is a condition beyond the individual’s control. Sexual orientation, however, involves behavior, especially in response to passion.
If we equate sexual orientation and race, we are saying that sexual behavior is beyond the individual’s control and moral will. We cannot embrace such an understanding of civil rights without denying the human moral capacity, and with it the fitness of human beings for life in a free society.
The effort to equate homosexual and lesbian relations with legal marriage represents a destructive assault on the heterosexual, marriage-based family.
Keyes is, to our knowledge, the only presidential candidate to include a specific section criticizing the queers. And, no, he does not mention the fact that he disowned his lesbian daughter. He does, however, invoke her name to highlight his “family man” attributes.
One has to admire, Keyes, though: he’s been a failed politician for nearly twenty years now and he just won’t quit. He simply doesn’t realize that the United States thinks he’s a fucking clown. Or maybe he likes it that way.

Ugh …closet case.

“It is a perversion if you say to me that a person chooses to be homosexual. You must be crazy to choose a way of life that exposes you to a kind of hatred. It’s like saying you choose to be black in a race-infected society.”
Anglican archbishop Desmond Tutu in a BBC interview in November 2007

Even the hard right is dismissing this guy as a nutcase and a clown.

If you ever heard the sound of his voice, or Gary Bauer’s for that matter, you just know these guys hate fags because they were called one all through Junior High.

The sad thing is that I’m so used to hearing anti-gay rhetoric from politicians that my first thought was “eh, that’s not so bad.”
Scott Berwitz
This is the same old rhetoric from Alan Keyes…unaffected by his daughter or by the stories of others (think Ted Haggard) who held similarly severe anti-gay beliefs, but still had gay sex. Yet, here he is with his same tired routine about how it’s not the gay person, it’s the gay activity, etc…as if you can somehow take the sex out of sexuality…etc., etc.
I hope it’s worth losing his daughter, and the countless other gay children who will suffer a similar estrangement from ignorant parents who think Keyes has a point.

hey im also gay too, i didnt choose to be gay, HOWEVER i refuse to engage in sex, because its immortal and against god’s will. you people should be ashamed for choosing to have sex with the same sex!
