Modern Family: The Complete Second Season
Fox, $49.98 ($59.99 Blu-Ray)
Modern Family got all those Emmys because the show a rarity: an intelligently funny mainstream family sitcom. And after a shaky early first season where it seemed like gay couple Cam and Mitchell didn’t even like each other very much, the show is much more recognizably human.

“Yes, Mickey Rooney as a Japanese neighbor running around mixing up his Ls and Rs is racist. That’s how everything was back in 1961.”
Uh, no. Not every movie from 1961 was as incredibly racist as Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Just say you like the movie and enjoy it despite the racism; you don’t have to justify it by making dumb statements like the one above.

Truman Capote despised that film version of his book. He said, although he loved Audrey Hepburn as an actress, she was all wrong for the part. And he hated Mickey Rooney as the Japanese. (I think it’s a basically good film, but if you read the book you kind of understand where Capote is coming from).

Glad to see the “Boys Next Door” has finally been released. I always thought Max Caulfield could be gay, He got his start as a go-go boy in a London gay dance club. I always got that vibe from him. Didn’t he marry the Nanny from “Nanny & the Professor” who is decades older than him?

Boys Next Door looks great. I must confess, I’d never heard of it before.
Thanks, Dave.

@JoeyO’H: He married Juliet Mills, yes. I actually think they’re still married too. Don’t know if he’s gay or not, but he always said gays were his biggest fans.

@Lefty: It’s an interesting film, though sort of low budget and junky too. It kept my attention, anyway. In spite of that photo, though, I didn’t feel much homoerotic tension between those two guys. Unless it’s so vague I missed it.

I’ve owned “The Boys Next Door” on dvd for years now. Whats this “NEW ON DVD” crap above?
Max Caulfield was such a beautiful boy back then. I think he did this movie soon after he did Grease 2
