PHOTOS: Zach Wahls Has a Confession to Make to Gay Activists in San Francisco

On Sunday Love Honor Cherish teamed up with San Francisco nonprofit Reason to Party to welcome viral activist Zach Wahls and NOH8 co-founders Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley to a swanky marriage equality fundraiser at Vessel in Union Square. Proving you don’t need a fake ID to get into a club if you’re the guest of honor, 20-year-old Wahls reaffirmed his already well-documented eloquence by charming the crowd of well-dressed gay men with stories about being raised by two moms: “People ask me what it was like growing up. Well, I guess I learned to always put the seat down,” he said. The adorable youngster’s cheeky joke aside, the party had a clear message: It’s time for marriage equality in California and the full repeal of Prop 8. The event was the launch of Reason to Party: Confession, a monthly series of fundraising parties at Vessel with all proceeds going to local nonprofits. Love Honor Cherish was the first beneficiary. LHC executive director Eric Harrison told Queerty that in the coming weeks the group is teaming up with NOH8 to create a viral campaign urging activists like Wahls to share their stories. “We really admire the way NOH8’s images have spread,” Harrison said, “and we are looking to get that viral response in this new campaign.” Wahls is set to return to San Francisco on February 6 for the screening of The Right to Love: An American Family. The documentary about Gay Family Values bloggers Jay and Bryan Leffew and their kids will premiere that night at the Castro Theatre. Then he’s back again in April to promote his memoir, My Two Moms (left), which Bouska shot the cover for. The next Confession at Vessel is February 19, but Reason to Party is hosting a special winter gala at the W Hotel on February 4.
