First Sense8, and now this?!
Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner’s Hulu series Difficult People features one of the most diverse casts on the small screen.
But now it features no cast at all because, for some unfathomable reason, the streaming service decided to cancel it after three seasons.
They were just getting warmed up!

Eichner and Shakina Nayfack, who played one of Billy’s coworkers (the infamous “trans 9/11 truther”), addressed the news on Twitter:

I’m sure that it’s going to be the very fathomable fact that the ratings don’t justify the expense of continuing to produce it, like pretty much every other TV cancellation ever.

There’s no mystery here. The only reason any TV show gets cancelled is that not enough people are watching it. That’s it. Television is a business.

I don’t know, it seems like Billy Eichner’s career has moved up to the next level, he’s popping up in a lot of stuff lately. Wouldn’t surprise me if his desire not to be stuck with responsibilities to a meh Hulu sitcom was at least partially the reason.

I really liked Difficult People. It was my first exposure to the two leads. I did consider cancelling Hulu, but The Handmaid’s Tale and few other shows keep me from that.

I thought it was hilarious at times. The mother character was enough to keep me watching and I loved Billy’s sister in law in the show. She was so foul yet so lovable.
