—Greg Gutfeld, host of Fox News’ Red Eye, on you crazy gay Tea Party rip-offs [via]
Now I, for one, think it’s awesome to see gay activists moving beyond the easy targets. Usually, they rag on Mormons, because they’ll take it, but ignore black churches because they won’t. So now, for once, they actually spoke truth to power. But I wonder, couldn’t this heckling be a precursor to violent extremism? And could this agitation toward our president, said to be based on policy, really be thinly veiled racism? I mean, the president did say he agreed with this gay group and yet they still heckled. Perhaps the members of Get Equal should look in the mirror and ask themselves why they’re so uncomfortable with a black man in the Oval Office. Maybe Chris Matthews could ask this question for them while Olbermann holds the mirror.

That’s a complete and deliberate misreading of the situation. Not once has any member of these activist groups even mentioned the fact that Obama is black, never mind suggested it as a bad thing. He says a lot more about himself in that sentence than he does about us. Which is to be expected from Fox, really.

Once you see the FOX symbol, you know that there is no need to listen.

@EdWoody: He’s obviously being facetious.

He’s trying to compare what is being said about the Teabaggers to the GetEQUAL activists. The major difference is that most of the GetEQUAL activists not only voted for, but campaigned hard for Obama to get into the White House…not sure the same can be said about any of the teabaggers.

Oh Come on, it’s an old trick. Conservatives got tarred with the “Racism Stick” all through the 70’s and 80’s and now take EXTREAM joy to try to call dems, liberals, minority groups, etc… racists whenver they can. So basically what this guy is insinuating is that because Get Equal doesn’t agree with Obama they are racists….well then, it would seem then that Fox News must think that all those tea partiers are racists as well. Will they be calling them out on that any time soon?
D'oh, The Magnificent
@Cam: It is a trick that works on liberals all to willing to spend hours explaining how the crazy conservative is wrong. My response is “you are nuts.” Then I move on.
Jon
WOW OMFG The left isn’t on the same page all the time. I’m sorry FoxNews your conspiracies about us being basically wired to each other are void!!!!!!!! He was making a Tea Party joke…hmmmm did we have Obama Hitler signs? nope so fox news still the tea party is more likely to inspire violence then GetEQUAL!

I refuse to allow to buy into this man’s blatant attempt at turning minorities against one another. We both face oppression from the dominant narrative, and we must both work hard to combat this. Of course the LGBT community and the Black community are not going to see eye to eye on everything. But what we do see eye to eye on is that “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.
It pains me to see the rampant racism in my community, as much as it pains me to see the homophobia in other marginalized communities. But I will not allow that pain to stop me from working to understand others who have been oppressed, from telling them the oppression I face, and finally from telling those who attempt to pit us against each other that their deception is in vain.

Gutfield is a mediocre comservative comedian, nothing more, and he’s reversing the logic of those who criticize the teabaggers just to irritate them. Anyone who has watched RED EYE can see that conservatives just can’t do comedy. All they do is bash the other side, without any great jokes. Gutfield is also very annoying, and watching him for more than 2 minutes makes you want to bash his ugly face in with a ball peen hammer.

GetEqual = LGBTeaBaggers

“Fox” rhymes with “Pox”. Nuff said.
