Another Pride season, another pair of rainbow-colored sneakers! This time, Nike has given its Air Max 720 kicks a prideful makeover.

The new shoe design — part of Nike’s “Be True” product line and priced at $180 — starts off red at the toe and cycles through the full color spectrum, ending up purple at the toe. The translucent midsoles bear the signature of Gilbert Baker, the late designer of the rainbow flag, while the heel pull-ups show the “Be True” catchphrase in bold lettering.
The Air Max 90s also got a rainbow redesign, albeit one that’s more subdued. Those shoes, priced at $140, are white and black with multicolored accents, while the hues of the rainbow following the contours of Nike’s trademark Swoosh logo.
How about we take this to the next level?

And for the younger generation, Nike is trotting out the KD 10, a children’s shoe with a rainbow-colored translucent sole.

Let’s all make a buck selling garbage to the homosexuality people.
Brian
It’s not like we haven’t been buying garbage our entire lives, this is just a new marketing angle.
Doctor Benway
Do people really wear that?
Paulie P
Ugly comes to mind…. you are going to tell me a gay person wasn’t on the design team for that?
marion
I bet the children and workers in Nikes’ overseas sweatshops had great fun putting these colourful shoes together, must have really brightened up their day. Such an empty hollow gesture

Cynical aren’t we…..dang.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
Gawd!!! Would you bitter people please step back and realize that this is a major corporation giving a HUGE fcuk you to the right wing nutsmcubags out there….plus they take a lot of flack from said noxious sub humans simply for offering Gay themed items for sale…
Name brand sneakers cost as much as if not more. Nike is not “making a buck” off our community, rather giving us the opportunity to show pride AND give a fcuk you to the haters…

Grow up already! Nike gave a big f you to all our brave military men and women by endorsing that fascist thug KaperDickkk!
Doctor Benway
So, because it’s for a good cause, we should accept anything, even if it’s really ugly?

Once again, your intrinsic dullness is showing. Please explain in coherent fashion what exactly Kaepernick’s actions had/have to do with the US military in any way.
And also try to explain why you are so against a non-violent expressions of our constitutionally protected freedom of speech to highlight a well documented prejudice against people of color by law enforcement personnel.
Please learn how to think!

shut up fool

@iamru2 Why dnt you grow up and understand why Colin did what he did. And what makes him a thug? You people get mad when someone call Trump a racist(when theirs proof of why people call him that) but then say Colin hates America, when he explain himself clearly on why he take a knee.
yah_sure_youbetcha
Exactly. I support kapernick 100%.

Something’s different whenever gay men in general are focused on. The stereotype that society believes (and WE seem to perpetuate) is that gay men are childless, single & rich with endless supplies of cash, post-doctorate level degrees, white-collar jobs, and top-of-the-line new condos and new cars. And we all live a very lavish lifestyle with all this disposable income. So these corporations only care because we have MONEY – or act like we do. If we were of any other minority group that doesn’t have any money or higher education or great jobs these sponsors would pull out of our events so fast your head would spin.

Thug = a guy who wears socks with pics of the police as pigs!

synonyms: ruffian, hoodlum, bully boy, bully, bandit, mugger, gangster, terrorist, gunman, murderer, killer, hitman, assassin, hooligan, vandal, Yardie; More
2.
HISTORICAL
a member of a religious organization of robbers and assassins in India. Devotees of the goddess Kali, the Thugs waylaid and strangled their victims, usually travelers, in a ritually prescribed manner. They were suppressed by the British in the 1830s.
As noted before in regards to your mindless posts, the dictionary is your friend. Please explain how this accepted definition applies in any way to people wearing socks with novel patterns. You seem to enjoy encouraging people to laugh at your lack of intellect.
iamru2
” wearing socks with novel patterns” your ignorance is truly astounding.
just me
look carefully. it’s a rainbow with 7 or maybe 8 colours, it’s definitely not the 6 coloured rainbow flag… so they can wink in and directions and laugh all the way to the bank.
Rex Huskey
i agree. limit it to LGBQ…. to hell with the others

@iamru2
This is the right wing Schtick of lies and false information. Notice two things especially.
1. Desperately trying to deflect from the fact that Kaepernick was kneeling to bring attention to multiple black people murdered by police, with no consequences.
2. Notice how the right wing tries to pretend that the flag ONLY represents the military? Sorry Sweetie, that flag is the AMERICAN flag. And yet you are trying to claim an AMERICAN has no right to say anything because it somehow insults people who are supposedly fighting for our right to BE free.
Go take a civics class and try again.
Cam
As for NIKE.
Hey, if they see LGBTQs as a powerful market force, guess what, companies won’t want to piss us off. This is one reason why advertisers have pulled off of Sean Hannity’s and Laura Ingraham’s show. So I say, let them cater to us all they want, we can in turn use threats of boycotts to do damage to media bigots who need their advertising dollars.

I wonder if the far leftists who hate capitalism and feel the institutions of capitalism are the root of our problems still support this?
