A bewigged Cher was the surprise celebrity guest at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles Saturday night, when the legendary singer introduced son Chaz Bono, who was receiving an award for combating homophobia and transphobia. “The other day I was having a big meltdown and Chaz said, ‘Are you going to come to the [GLAAD Media Awards],’ and I went ‘Chaz, you know, I’m not doing well right now,’” she told the crowd at the Westin Bonaventure. “And… he texted me and said ‘I turned into a very understanding, smart man and you can call on me.’  And it made me feel so good, like I could lean on someone.  It touched my heart.” Also receiving awards was Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson, who helped create the youth-oriented Straight But Not Narrow campaign. Hutcherson told Queerty he was more than ready to play a gay role: “I have no qualms about it at all. I want to play all sorts of roles,” he said. “There are a lot of gay people in the world, so the chances of me playing someone gay is pretty high.” Also taking home awards were the shows Modern Family, Drop Dead Diva and Hot in Cleveland, and the films Pariah and Beginners.(Click here for the full list of winners.) His name is Hudson, not Hunter.

This was like camera whore-central. Ewwww. Perez Hilton??? What have GLAAD members been drinking?

As for Ellen DeGeneres, she’s a woman who has supported the careers of homophobes such as pop singer Usher, whom she’s had on her show.

GLAAD has truly lost the plot. It’s time to disband it. It’s a discredited rabble.

    What’s up with Cher ?
She does not look well, I remember about a year ago
it was said she was having stomach problems
Looking at her now she looks very bloated, I think the Alphalfa wig was used as a distraction, so you wouldn’t notice

Cher is no spring chicken guys, also not crazy about the way you have to refresh the page every time you want to see a photo, very distracting. just saaaaaying…

As much as I love Cher, I can’t help but think that she upstaged her son’s moment in the spotlight, by wearing the wig.

I hate to tell you this, but Rep. Maureen Walsh, of Walla Walla, WA, is a Republican, not a Democrat. Hmm…both Politicians featured in this, both Rep. Maureen Walsh, and Rep. Mary Bono-Mack, are Republicans.
