According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, love handles are “deposits of excess fat at the side of one’s waistline.” (It’s also the title of a Canadian game show. Who knew?)
That may not be the sexiest definition in the world, but we have ample photographic evidence to support our theory that love handles can be a total turn on. On the right guy, they provide something sexy and gribble for us to wrap our hands around in the throes of passion. And science says that guys with meatier midsections actually make better lovers.
Other words for love handles include “spare tires,” “paunch,” “flap grabs,” and “man lumps.”
Scroll down for pictures of gorgeous guys who prove that love handles are totally sexy…
How about we take this to the next level?

Sorry.
There ain’t nothing “luscious” about these fatties.
If I need “handles” of any kind, I’ll go to Home Depot.
Thanks anyway Queerty.
IvanPH
Someone please tell me how to unsee these images?
Gruffling
Now that’s how I like my men, hot and heavy sometimes hairy. Doubt I’d turn down 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13 or 14. That’s a great gallery, props to who gathered it.
badtungsten
Have any of you fat-shamers bothered to take a step outside your gym or bathhouse recently? These men are hardly fat. I’d say they represent the average American man, and increasingly, the average man anywhere in the Western world. Not everyone can look like a Sean Cody model.
callenstewart
Hot and handsome!
tdh1980
As soon as I saw this entry featured on the home page, I knew exactly what the first few comments would be based on my experience frequenting the site — not a judgment, because we’re all allowed to like what we like, only an observation. Having said that, most of these pictures represent the types of guys whom I’d gladly accompany home — tall, thick men (within a certain degree of height-weight proportionality) — so this made my morning.
KingEidilleg
@tdh1980: Amen! Very hot men indeed:-)
dave lopes
The black guy with the red bathing suit does not have any handle.
He does not belong in this collection.
Xzamilio
@Gruffling: LOL…. just skipped over all of the non-white ones.

Let Me See Here…..I click on an article titled “PHOTOS: Love Handles” and then complain when a bunch of pictures pop up of guys with love handles…how typical :/
jwtraveler
Shows you don’t have to have a 6-pack to be sexy. As I often say: When I’m in bed with a man, there’s only one part of his body that I want to be hard.

Pre On-Set Diabetes Weight is sexy??
donatodanny
wash your eyes in acid. You saw the storiy’s headline next time click on shallow and gym bunny.
donatodanny
@IvanPH: wash your eyes in acid. You saw the storiy’s headline next time click on shallow and gym bunny.
Gruffling
@Xzamilio: Ha didn’t realise I did that. A couple look a bit latin/hispanic (I never know the right one to use so play it safe there)
vive
After chasing gym-bodies for years and finding they were mostly useless duds in bed, the most mind-blowing sex I ever had was with a baby-bear. So much so that it very much broadened what I consider sexy.
Xzamilio
@Gruffling: Oh, I was just pulling your chain lol
SportGuy
Its like a trainwreck, I know if I looked I would be horrified, but yet I still clicked, lol.
ingyaom
“Love hundles”? That suggests a little bit of chub (which can be quite nice), but half of these guys are obese – proudly showing off their heart-attack guts. It’s them I’m worried about.
MattHulkSmash
Oh look it, it’s my butt! Thanks for the proper sourcing!
Gruffling
@Xzamilio: Haha Fair enough. I know it can be a sensitive issue for some people though.
spiffy
Did anybody find it super ironic that this article was followed immediately by a post about how to “lean out”?
jockjack5
@SportGuy:
LOL!
Yes indeed. I like your “train wreck” metaphor and I agree.

Clicking on an article titled “Luscious Love Handles” and then whining about how unattractive the men are is about as intelligent as clicking on an article titled “Beautiful Black Men” and then whining because you only like white men. Get a life.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
Other words for love handles include “spare tires,” “paunch,” “flap grabs,” and “man lumps.”
And let’s not forget “dead before age 50 of hypertension/high blood pressure, diabetes, and or stroke”
Gruffling
@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: Funny. I come from a full-built family and not one member has suffered any of those ills.
cflekken
#2, please.

I don’t even like my own “love-handles” why should I like them on someone else?
tradskinhead808
@liquidskyny: Nick Jonas is diabetic and he looks nothing like these men, so there goes your shallow theory.
1898
@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS: Oh goodness gracious. Both of my grandfathers had love handles and both of them lived to be 88 and 89, respectively. Neither were diabetic. Neither ever had a stroke. Both had moderately-high BP but I know plenty of skinny people with hypertension too.
1898
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 12, and 13… please give me a call. 😉
Drew
@tradskinhead808: Nick Jonas has type 1 diabetes, not type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes develops during childhood, when the immune system attacks the cells of the pancreas that secrete insulin. Type 2 diabetes is the one associated with obesity. Try again.
tradskinhead808
@Drew: fair enough, but if you think these guys are obese, or any where near it, then you’re a fucking idiot. Guys like you are the kind that make it ok for gay guys to have eating and body dismorphia disorders and that’s not ok.
It’s not ok for gay men to continue to beat the crap out of each other for the way that we look. If Queer history has taught you anything at all, it should be acceptance. Otherwise equality isn’t for you.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
@1898:
Ok, am on my way to Burger King to grab their 2/5 Whopper special and then on to Friendlys for a double Jim Dandy.
If I wake up dead, its your fault! :p
@Drew:
You are correct about Nick Jonas he had a pretty severe case of type 1, at one point he had an external insulin pump. From that awesome body looks like it is well under control………….
polarisfashion
We have seen an article about love handles and another one about guys who are physically fit. How about an article for us average in between types? I’ve always considered myself the man next door type. I don’t expect my guy to look like a GQ model by any means but I don’t want a slob either.
Jackhoffsky
I would rather be with someone who, when we’re standing face to face and naked, we can both look down and see how well things are going.
Blackceo
Wow @ some of the comments on here. Yes I like a fit guy but some of these comments are just plain mean.
dr35
Reading some of these comments reminds me why I have such little faith in this “Community”. We preach tolerance and acceptance, love and support, yet a silly social blog like Queerty posts a gallery like this, and here come a parade of insults hurled from the most shallow and pathetic of places. Looks like the religious folks aren’t the only ones shaming their own. When do we as a “Community@ rise above it? When do we quit insulting people we don’t even know? They may be just images, and you may not know them personally, but the hatred I’m seeing in a few of these comments is demoralizing. What a shame…….
UWSguy
Thanks Queerty for posting these hot men. I’m in lust with all of them. Bravo
jwtraveler
@tradskinhead808: @dr35: I couldn’t agree more. A good diet and regular exercise are definitely a healthy way of life, but not everyone has a skinny muscled, body and a little fat on the bones does not make one obese or unhealthy. And insulting people because you don’t find them attractive is disgusting no matter what the reason. I agree that as a group that has suffered so much abuse for not conforming to social norms, we owe it to ourselves to be more accepting of each other.
jockjack5
@dr35:
@jwtraveler:
I agree with the over-all thrust of your general point about us, the community, being a bitchy bunch of queens and, as such, tend to be, well, bitchy in our comments, especially about personal appearances. And I am among the worst in this regard, especially when it comes to obesity.
I think we should be less critical of one another because we are all in the same boat.
So, good points, but still a tad on the melo-dramatic side.
Tracy Pope
@dr35: I’m one of the so-called “muscle jocks” that other gay guys expect would say something snarky when seeing pictures of big guys, but I don’t see any good reason to be that kind of person. Besides that, I can’t imagine the tedium if we were all the same and we all wanted the same thing. You’re right, it does sometimes feel like there’s as much vitriol within our community as what we fight against coming from outside our community. It’s a bit discouraging.
QJ201
How about “average” guys instead of Bears who will all have diabetes and heart disease in their 60s?
Seriously, promoting obesity as a lifestyle-fashion-sexuality choice. ugh.
saco1036
@jockjack5: You are such an ignorant hateful bitch.
saco1036
@jockjack5: @IvanPH: Why?? Because you can’t handle seeing real men with normal bodies??
1898
@QJ201: Get a grip. They’re not promoting obesity, or promoting anything. It’s a photo gallery of shirtless dudes. Nothing more, nothing less. I must’ve missed the part that says “You should immediately gain 30 lbs” or the part that suggests thin people are inferior.
You want “average”? Start here:
http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/10/this-is-the-average-mans-body/280194/
Condensed version: the average US male age 30-39 has a BMI of 29 and a 39″ waist.
Many of the men pictured in this article ARE average.
saco1036
@liquidskyny: I am in my 40’s and a bit overweight. My blood pressure is normal. My sugar levels are normal. My cholesterol is normal. And my heart and lungs are perfectly healthy. Carrying a few extra pounds does not automatically mean you are not healthy. Stop being a judgmental Queen.
jockjack5
@saco1036:
I’m sexually aroused.
Thank you.
SteveDenver
I like nice guys. I’m scrawny, so I admit I can appreciate guys who are plush, but I don’t base my attraction on it.
Alan down in Florida
@Jackhoffsky: If you need to look down to see how things are going they’re obviously not going well.
The thing I don’t understand about the haters is that 99% of them are closing their eyes most of the time during sex so what the hell is the difference if a partner isn’t perfect.
Arconcyyon
Woowww woww woooww ups ! like I´m is like the photto single the name boyswithbellies and

@Alan down in Florida: “If you need to look down to see how things are going they’re obviously not going well.”
Based on the bedroom performance of the typical Men’s Fitness type in my experience, I would agree that yes, things are probably not going well. 🙂 Though I have to admit that I have a Fitness magazine kind of body (through no merit of my own, just lucky genetics) I find that young bearish guys are generally much better in bed. I do feel bad for the bears as they get older though; it’s generally not a pretty picture healthwise or lookswise, though there are exceptions.
jwtraveler
@1898: I agree. These men are not obese (and I say that as someone who was considered skinny for most of my life) and there’s no way that you can predict that someone will develop diabetes or heart disease by looking at a photo. If there were, we wouldn’t need doctors and a health care system.
There is research that shows that people who are slightly ‘overweight’ live longer than thin people.
Obesity is a risk factor for future health problems; it is not the ONLY risk factor, nor is it a guarantee of problems.
And I repeat, for gay people to engage in personal insults and attacks about physical appearance is ignorant and reprehensible, considering the derision we’ve lived with for centuries. Liberation from one’s own oppression is not entitlement to inflict the same oppression on others.
jwtraveler
@jockjack5: THANK YOU! I am always encouraged and pleased when I see people take responsibility for their errors by recognizing them and trying to change. This is a strength, not a weakness.
scotshot
Most overweight people never develop type 2 diabetes, and many people with type 2 diabetes are at a normal weight or only moderately overweight.
Franklin
It’s funny. Pictures like this are put up, and words are thrown about such as “obesity”, “diabetes”, and “heart attack”. Yet you same queens would readily bend over for a muscle bound circuit boy who regularly uses steroids, and consequently would probably die of a heart attack way before any of these guys would.
tradskinhead808
@Franklin: lol, spot on buddy!!!
vive
@scotshot, nothing you say is false, but still, about 90% of type II diabetes occurs in overweight/obese persons. Overweight guys (BMI > 25) are about 2.7 times more likely and obese guys (BMI > 30) about 7 times more likely to get diabetes than normal weight guys. And we haven’t even started talking about cardiovascular disease.
I say this as someone who likes bear guys and finds many of them sexy. I also often find smokers sexy. I find it distasteful how some commenters here insult overweight guys, but let’s not live in denial regarding the health sacrifices they make.
1898
According to the American Diabetes Association, African Americans, Mexican Americans, American Indians, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and Asian Americans are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. If Queerty puts up a photo gallery of black or hispanic guys next week, will the diabetes police be back here with their admonishments for “promoting” poor health?
Drew
@tradskinhead808: “Guys like me”? I never said any of the guys above are or are not obese. I only clarified the difference between type I and type II diabetes. Way to jump to conclusions and start making personal attacks, though. So much for nonjudgmentalism.
