Holding out for a hero? You can let go now.
Earlier this week, we told you about Crisis on Earth X, a two-night superhero jamboree airing on the CW that smashes together characters from Supergirl, The Arrow, The Flesh, and Legends of Tomorrow; a show that finds them all fighting all sorts of criminal masterminds on an alternate version of Earth.

But what’s ultimately important here: the show features Russell Tovey’s character The Ray locking lips with Wentworth Miller’s Citizen Cold.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
We shed some light on the complicated mythology of the series here, and it involves something about superheroes beating up Nazis in a parallel universe where Hitler won World War II. But if you want to skip all those convoluted and soapy comic-book antics, you can check out the kiss right here and call it a day.

There’s a show called “The Flesh?”
What’s next “The Butt,” “The Crotch?”

Haha, that typo adds a whole new excitement to the CW lineup. Loved seeing Russell on the CW btw. I hope his character gets his own show, not just the animated series they’ve announced.

Typical… must be scenes from “Arrow” because ten seconds of darkness and I’d had enough….. just like I abandoned the tv show because I got tired of having to get up and move closer to the tv to see what was happening…..

So do openly gay actors ONLY play gay characters now?
Even if it has to be ret-conned into the story after they come out?
I know that Tovey’s character (the Ray) is gay in comics cannon – but Miller’s character (Captain Cold) never has been (neither in comics nor the Flash tv show).
But, since he’s played by out gay actor Wentworth Miller… now Captain Cold is gay in the tv show..?
Would they have made Captain Cold gay in this version if the actor playing him were straight?
A similar thing happened to Colton Haynes on Teen Wolf. There was no homosexuality on his characters part when he left the series in 2012 – but when he came back for the finale in 2017 (after he’d come out publicly), suddenly his character is gay (and had been the whole time?).
It just seems like more of an insincere-acknowledgement than actual legit visibility and, eventually, the trend could be limiting for gay actors.

Russel and Wentworth would be an amazing gay couple! We want more kisses!
