You’ve likely heard by now that Donald Trump is the subject of an official impeachment inquiry.
It all started when a whistleblower alleged that Trump tried to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into investigating Joe Biden’s son Hunter for a corruption scandal that never actually happened in exchange for military aide from the United States.

After the story broke, Trump admitted to the allegations to reporters, but he walked back his admission later. Then the White House released a transcript of the conversation showing that Trump did exactly what was originally alleged and that he later admitted to and then denied. And then this morning, the actual whistleblower complaint was declassified, confirming everything that was originally reported.

I just hope this doesn’t all come back to bite the Democrats in the ass next November, because we all know that the 53 Republican members of the US Senate will NEVER vote to throw Trump out. And what’s worse, even if his royal ass IS thrown out, he could still theoretically run for re-election!
I still say the best thing for Democrats to do in 2020 is run a very strong candidate against Trump and make the case to the American people for why Trump should go. I fear what we’re going to get instead is a bloodbath like in 1972 and 1984.

I agree on the need for a strong Democrat in 2020, but in fact trump could NOT run for re-election if he is impeached and removed from office. The Constitution says: “Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States; but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.” So no, he couldn’t run for ANY other office, and could also be indicted and prosecuted for a whole bunch of other stuff as a private citizen.

Impeachment is an investigation. Typically you don’t wait until public sentiment is ready for an investigation so you can get a guilty verdict, you do the investigation and with what you find there you convince the jury.
Nixon had high support, it was all of the evidence that came out during impeachment that turned public sentiment against him.

Kangol2 just proved my point. Rather than denouncing Joe Biden (who admitted to nepotism and getting a prosecutor in another country fired) and accepting what Joe Biden did as corrupt, his response is, “yeah but Trump…”
People like Kangol2 are throwing tantrums because they’re afraid to accept the fact that the Democrats have such poor, unelectable, and unlikable candidates in 2020.

I’m so tired of Dems worrying about a backlash. Go full steam because your party supports you. GOP party got hijacked and because nobody had the balls to do the moral thing, the party has been destroyed. This “fake news” b*llsh*t, questioning authority, lying, is a dictator’s rulebook. He’s a private citizen, not the President. You want to whine about Hunter, go ahead. He’s not the one accused of selling out his country, trying to blackmail an ally, use his office for self-aggrandizement (not to mention that even that hack Bill Barr can’t save him from jail if he once more becomes a private citizen)! It’s telling that Mitch seems to have gotten laryngitis, and other Republicans are finally starting to flee the sinking Trump ship. Doesn’t matter if the Senate manages to keep enough ‘Pubs in line to avoid conviction, short of a banana-republic takeover, “orange” will become the new black for the worst President in U.S. history (who else could make tricky Dicky look good by comparison?).
