You’ve likely heard by now that Donald Trump canceled postponed a planned visit to Denmark after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said “Greenland is not for sale” when he expressed interest in purchasing it.
“Thankfully, the time when you buy and sell other countries and populations is over,” Frederiksen told Danish media this week, adding that, just to be totally clear, “Greenland is not Danish. Greenland belongs to Greenland. I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously.”
But it turns out Trump was being serious and he didn’t appreciate Frederiksen’s flippant response to his proposal. So he canceled his plans to see her.

News that Mr. Trump is not coming “came as a surprise,” the Royal House’s communications director told the state broadcaster, adding, “That’s all we have to say about that.”‘
Coincidentally, former President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit Denmark in September. We’re sure Trump’s decision to cancel his trip had nothing to do with that.
