Catholics, Mormons Making Argentina’s Senate Their Morality Sandbox

Everybody wants a say as Argentina’s lawmakers make the final rounds on its gay marriage bill! The Catholics are mobilizing! The Mormons are coming! Now if only we could get a faction of Jews and Muslims to Buenos Aires immediately, we could temporarily revoke Jerusalem’s status as the Holy City and get those flotillas on their way. Win-win.

Can someone explain to me how my being able to legally marry who I want will, in any way, affect these bigots and their institutions? They can continue to define marriage as between a man and a woman, continue to believe that a man and woman must be married in a temple in order to reach the highest level of heaven, continue to believe what they want and regulate their own organization how they want regardless of whether I can be married to a man in the eyes of the state…so what’s their big freaking problem?

It’s probably for the same reason that Galileo’s telescope affected their institution to the point where they arrested him.

Don’t worry. They’ll apologize just like they did regarding Galileo. If Galileo’s example is any indication, figure on it taking them about 400 years before they get around to it.
