Things got complicated for Ted Cruz when the notoriously antigay evangelical conservative was pushed into a corner by a clever gay Republican’s question during a town hall on Good Morning America.
In the wake of numerous and increasing antigay “religious freedom” laws, the question from self-described “lifelong Republican” and small business owner Todd Calongne was pretty simple:
“What would you do to protect me and my husband from that institutionalized discrimination?”
What Cruz answered with was a hodgepodge of small government talking points that seemed to confuse even him. Things just get even more uncomfortable for Cruz from there, particularly when pressed by out anchor Robin Roberts.
Watch Cruz get owned below, and join us in hoping he doesn’t get anywhere near the White House. Gay Republicans get a lot of flack, but Calongne just did a solid for the team.
How about we take this to the next level?

As my Anthropology 101 professor told me when I was questioned as to why I wanted to drop her class “one day you may find yourself in a situation where you can’t bowl them over with brilliance. That will be the day when you will have no other choice but to baffle them with B/S.”
Ol’ Brother Ted just proved her point.

Every time I watch Cruz and Trump get asked any sort of important question, I’m reminded of this:

false headline. in reality it should read “Gay Republican Shows Why The GOP Will Never Support LGBT People
What will Crux do to protect him and his husband? about as much as every other republican this moron has ever voted for ever has. IE, nothing.
The gay republican, as per his Facebook account, studied at the catholic university of america. hilarity!
he’s legally married, due to the work of liberals. and now he’s surprised a republican won’t do anything to protect a gay couple?
Dear Gay Republicans, this is why your party doesn’t respect you; you don’t respect yourselves. when people keep promoting discrimination against you and you vote for them ANYWAY it gives them no reason to ever change their stances.

I didn’t see/hear anything to support the headline of this news piece. A question was asked, and a bullsh*t answer was given. No confrontation. No “owning” Ted Cruz. Robin Roberts didn’t even press the issue. Weak and lame.

@Jeremy Kinser: Excellent choice. You hit the nail on the head with that one and Cruz. Even though I am an atheist I say lets all thank god he (Cruz) can’t dance.lol
By the way, back around Oct of last year we were talking about the name of a restaurant that relocated in Hollywood that wasn’t in your book back in the 1980’s. That restaurant was called the Southern Kitchen. I thought I had got it right. For some reason it wasn’t in your book but it did exist because they relocated to the corner of Sunset and Gower before it finally threw in the towel and closed. It was a soul food joint.
Thanks for the youtube post. That was funny.

In the old indian venacular: “White man speak with forked tongue”. This is the same man that tried to get Congress to overturn the Supreme Court Decicsion on Gay Marriage. Now he’s saying that everyone has the right to live as they choose. I agree with Trump…lying Ted is at it again. Say whatever to whomever is in the audience. Tomorrow you can say something different. Lying Ted doesn’t deserve to be President of anything!

@muscl954: I kinda of thought that for an out of the closet lesbian she was a bit timid. But then remembering that she does have a multi-million dollar contract I some what can’t blame her caution as to what would happen, god forbid, if he won; ABC is in last place as for ratings in EVERY category of television. He could ban all interviews with whats left of ABC News from the White House.
Seriously, when was the last time you watched ABC for anything? I used to watch Nashville and Modern Family but were it not for this article I had forgotten all about both of them starting about three years (seasons) ago. The situation is so bad down here they no longer have a local ABC news station. We do get ABC World News Tonight but that along with everything else is all network programming.

I didn’t see anyone get owned. I saw a whole lot of delusion everywhere.
Spike
More like yet another self hating gay republican asks a homophobic bigot republican a question about civil rights and is ignored, again.
mastik8
Owned? Cruz answers every question in non sequiturs and did his usual word bomb this time. He dodged the question then the hosts let him get away with it.
Billy Budd
A gay republican is a living contradiction, something truly bizarre.

@AtticusBennett:
You just stated about Todd Calongne, the gay Republican in the article, “…as per your Facebook account….”
REALLY!?! Going back to Facebook again?
You recently stated to me, “i’ve [sic] seen you on Facebook. you’re [sic] a tired, homely troll of a man.”
Really? You’ve seen me on Facebook? I’m tired, homely and a troll?
I have never been on Facebook. I do not, nor ever had, an account on Facebook.
Since you know so much, please tell me more about myself. Tell me more about how my family hates me. Tell me more about how people you have never met “come from shitty families”. Tell me more about your psychic abilities and the hatred you foist upon others who disagree with you. Tell me more about my Facebook account. I’m curious about what it says.
What kind of gay man tells another gay man, whom he has never met, that he is “tired, homely and a troll of a man”? A “man” that engages in “ugly-shaming” is not much of a man.
You, Atticus Bennett, are a pathetic, lying fraud.

Cruz did the “owning” since he did feel the need to actually answer their questions. Gay, “lifelong” or 5 seconds, Republican = Moron!

@AtticusBennett: “Dear Gay Republicans, this is why your party doesn’t respect you; you don’t respect yourselves. when people keep promoting discrimination against you and you vote for them ANYWAY it gives them no reason to ever change their stances.”
Amen to that! I couldn’t agree more!
tjr101
How did Ted Cruz get owned? In fact I see the questioner got owned with the usually right-wing non-answer talking points about religious liberty, 5 unelected judges and the other garbage about being a “constitutionalist.”
tjr101
And what’s even worst. The life-long gay Republican is leaning towards Trump.
robho3
@AtticusBennett: amen! A gay republican is an oxymoron– with an emphasis on the MORON.
dave lopes
@tjr101: and you think Cruz is better than Trump on gay rights……think again.
tjr101
@dave lopes: What make you think that? Neither Cruz or Trump are good on gay rights which is why I’m glad not to be Republican.
Louis
I find it hard to watch this video considering its gay republicans who are continuing to make it more difficult for the LGBT youth in this country.
I think this headline is truly misleading I think they own each other quite frankly one who supports a party that could care less about his rights and the other one who is a complete and utter moron who is a self professed bigot who uses his religious ideologies to justify his archaic and narrowminded prejudices.
DCguy
And the Media pretends to ask a follow up, but doesn’t really, and the politician is allowed to skate by with their B.S. answer. Nothing new here.
AtticusBennett
remember the last time the thankfully-defunct GOProud were *allowed* to be at CPAC? there to “represent gay people to the GOP”? this is what their spokesman said:
