As far as opening lines go, “Good evening ladies and gentlemen. You like my trumpet? It’s a sound heard around the world” isn’t half bad.
Unfortunately, that’s where Kathleen Tonn’s recent testimony to the Anchorage, Alaska city counsel starts to go south, and fast.
“Since one of my brethren introduced the King James Bible, since I represent the Lord Jesus Christ the great I am, I’m going to add to your public document and your public record from the public document of the great I am,” Tonn announces.
She was there to speak her mind on a proposed ordinance that would prohibit discrimination against any person based on sexual orientation or gender identity in employment, public accommodations and housing. It’s safe to assume Tonn, a former Republican candidate herself, is squarely against such an ordinance.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
And if you thought her Bible introduction sounded a bit wacky, strap in for the rest of the ride:
“Starting with, oh my — a tampon,” she says, pulling one from between the pages of her Bible. “Reminds me that little girls in pubescence get periods — female girls.”
Next she angrily bellows out some passages from the Second Epistle of Peter, aka God’s destructive judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Finally she gets to the point:
“Now, since you want to create some ordinance to avoid discrimination for members of our community who engage in, I perceive, unhealthy, ungodly behavior, you might want to consider creating an ordinance for one who speaks in tongues.”
But before she can keep going, the assembly chairman informs her that her time is up. Bet he was watching the second hand on that stopwatch like a hawk.
Rawstory notes that Tonn rose to modest internet fame for, of all things, speaking in tongues in a YouTube video that has since been deleted.

That flannel woods-lesbian look is not doing it for Cher. Didn’t realize she’d even moved up there.
At least this Tonn woman came by her crazy honestly. Her mother appears below speaking at a city council meeting in Nebraska.

Thank goodness. Maybe she’ll replace that Kim character as the gays’ latest favorite female villain who we’ll have to read about day after day.

No one you’re not paying’s interested in the SCADS of issues you weren’t able to work out with your mother before she killed herself. Take that shit to a therapist or a bar.

@Brian: Some still believe that, yes. The ones who join with the extremist feminist man-hating crowd do (I’m not referring to reasonable sane feminists here, so don’t jump on me). But other gays are extremely misogynist, so…..we get both extremes.

This is why you practice in the speech ahead of time to make sure you can get it all in.

I’m not aware of any jurisdiction that denies people the right to speak in tongues.
BlueDude
What is it with lunatics and Alaska? Maybe, Sarah Palin is “speaking in tongues”, and that’s why she’s incoherent, as well as irrelevant.
jwtraveler
“the Anchorage, Alaska city counsel” would be a lawyer representing the city of Anchorage. The lunatic was speaking to the Anchorage city COUNCIL, a legislative body.

@SeeingAll: You can’t even make a coherent thought. For every ignorant female, there are ten ignorant males. Take a look at the republican party for proof.
Brian
You’ve got to remember that women are afraid of male homosexuality because it represents male power. A husband who can leave his wife and opt into men represents the ultimate powerful male. Women fear him.
Why do you think Queen Victoria banned male homosexuality but not female homosexuality? She feared the power of the male homosexual feeling and act.

It is so sad that all the antigay feeling come and are rooted from judaic religion, and all of its spin offs (christianity and muslim), before the Judaic religion started influencing the world, gay and transgender were considered perfectly normal world wide, including gay weddings.
Greek and roman had no problem with it and neither did the Egyptians.
In africa tribes had no problem accepting transgenders, in fact it was normal,
for the transgender to be accepted not only by the women of the village, but to eventually enter a union with a local man and nobody had any problem with it.
And some african ethnic groups had some usual habit such as a woman was allowed to have multiple husbands,
not unlike, muslims men having multiple wives.
Meanwhile we still have zero evidence of most of what is written in the bible, from the arc of Noah, tower of babel or sodom and gomorra, or the resting place of jesus and it shroud, all the so claimed evidence are some long stretched theories that try to apply places or some ruins to bible fairy tales, with out any real proof.
In fact when we look at historical referenced, we quickly discover, Jesus was not born on christmas nor did he die in easter, those where local holidays, conveniently transformed for the new christian religion.
In case you wondering what happen to all the thousand of greek roman temples in Europe….. The are still there, roman churches were built in top of them since they already occupied the center of the city.
The stone of the temples were taken and reused to build the churches, not unlike the vatican defiling Rome’s colosseum by
removing all of its marble coating to build San Peter.
Best of all we do have records stating Jesus never ever said he was the son of god, it was simply a humanitarian and famous healer, Jesus was in fact a very devoted Jew, that remain jew till the end of is life, and he had no intention of changing judaic religion, he only wanted to add to it, to make it more kind.
Not only was the story of jesus written decades after his death, (faulty memories applies) but most of his followers never met him, and jesus was proclaimed the son of god much later on, by the early roman catholic church.
An here is the most interesting pickle of them all, as we all know 12 versions of the life of jesus were written, not only did the roman church choose the more convenient ones, by they altered the chosen 4 versions right from the start, alterations have keep coming through the centuries, including some anti gay additions.
Not unlike what Mike Huckabee is trying to do now, with his claims that Jesus talked about gay marriage in the bible.
If these bigots had any brains what so ever, they would quickly realize, god and jesus never wrote the bible, and more simply nobody ever spoke or has seen god, the bigots reply is “prophets did”, but then thousands of years ago nobody new what a mental disease like schizophrenia was…….. and why would such an omni powerful god did prophets?
At the age of 7-8 I was introduced by a teacher to the concept of dogma in a very neutral way,
even at that age I knew it was completely illogical and wrong, why would a real religion need dogma? cClearly to cover up all the lies….
People like this Alaska woman are idiots in need of therapy and perhaps medications, I suspect in a future day, religion will considered a mental disease.
And last for a big laugh, anyone that has visited Europe and its roman catholic churches will have quickly realized most priest and nuns are gay and lesbians, and in a most evident way, for centuries it was considered a refuge to hide such individual under the power of the church.
