Gay adult video performer Beaux Banks has criticized the studio Naked Sword for not hiring any black performers for its upcoming feature-length horror parody Scared Stiff 2: The Amityville Whore.

Of the parody’s 10 performers, most are white and none are African American, though the film does include two men of color. According to the gay adult industry news site Str8UpGayP*rn (link NSFW), “Brock Banks is Puerto Rican and Adam Ramzi is of Middle Eastern descent.”

Though Brock Banks and Ramzi are men of color, they can appear white skinned to unknowing viewers, reinforcing the idea that the Scared Stiff 2 cast is entirely white.

In a series of tweets, Beaux Banks wrote:

I’m sorry but I still don’t get how a major production company can get away with casting a major project, casting 10 models, and not one of them being African American, and y’all be silent. If only it were awards season, and then everyone would be speaking up.

In a world where DeAngelo Jacksos and Max Connors among other amazing African American Adult Entertainers exist, there’s no excuse. Cite the 10 person ensemble cast filled of Caucasian actors but one. Love you all, but it’s time to be accountable.

We’re good enough for your NOIR site, but not good enough for your feature film…

Beaux Banks’ comment about “awards season” is a reference to a controversy when the GayVN Awards, one of the most widely known awards ceremonies in the adult film industry, announced that its 2017 nominees included a “Best Ethnic Scene” category.

None of the black, Asian or Hispanic performers grouped together in the category received a nomination for Best Actor or Best Supporting Actor, and performers criticized the awards organizers for needlessly segregating performers of color into a separate category.

His reference to the “NOIR site” is an allusion to Noir Male, a gay adult video site that isn’t owned by NakedSword but which hired Scared Stiff 2 director Chi Chi LaRue as its lead director. Noir Male’s tagline boasts that it “Showcases Black Men As They Deserve To Be Seen,” but it was criticized by black performer Jacen Zhu for not catering to the black community. In April 2019, approximately 55 percent of its roster of men was made up of black performers.

LaRue and NakedSword have not yet publicly spoken about Beaux Banks’ public comments.
