And so Glenn Close remains the world’s living actor with the most Oscar nominations without a win (o for 7) after last night’s surprise upset by Olivia Coleman at the 91st Academy Awards.
But while she may not have won during last night’s ceremony, she definitely won on the red carpet, and we’re not just talking about her amazing gold dress. We’re talking about this GIF:
The GIF was captured from a candid video of Close when she first noticed Billy Porter’s show-stopping look as he was interviewing Melissa McCarthy on the red carpet.
When you come to the Oscars, you must dress up. Thanks @CSiriano for creating this custom couture masterpiece. @OscarHeymanBros you have outdone yourselves with your iconic jewels. But this is hardly the first time 71-year-old Close has blessed the internet with some truly amazing GIFS.
How about we take this to the next level?

To bad she always the bridesmaid and never the bride ….7 TIME LOSER!!….but great meme nonetheless
@HarryB
Really good comparison

Cute. I am more interested in Spike Lee’s antics. Did he really turn his back on the Oscar recipient for “Best Director”? Imagine the hoots and howls that kind of antics would earn any other person! Or was that done in jest?

Will everyone please stop acting like it was “her turn” to win. THE WIFE was a horrible movie. If anyone was robbed at the Oscars it was Bradley Cooper and Sam Elliot.
NeilIN72
LOL that’s your opinion. Many people thought The Favourite was horrid and The Wife was stupendous. Gotta love opinions!
PoetDaddy
You thought Sam Elliot’s performance was better than Mahersahala Ali’s and Richard Grant’s? Seriously? And you thought Bradley Cooper’s performance in A Star Is Born was better than Viggo Mortensen’s in Green Book and Willem Dafoe’s in Eternity’s Gate?
Kangol
Glenn Close is a great actress but having seen The Wife, I have to agree with you. The movie was a heap of clichés and she phoned it in, which is still better than most actresses, but she didn’t come close to Olivia Colman, Yalitza Aparicio or Lady Gaga in their performances last year. (I didn’t see Amy Adams’ film but she usually plays Amy Adams.)

I don’t get what’s “winning” about this. To me, it would have been “winning” if her reaction had been one of acceptance and allowing Billy Porter and all men to decide what’s “appropriate” for us to wear. Love her, but this looks like she disapproves. That’s not a “winning” meme.
Kangol
Yes, it’s a side eye, as if she’s reading Billy Porter. I’m like, bish please, you may be fierce in your own way, but let’s see you try to pull that off!

Hmmmmm…..an awards show full of men in gowns??? Nah, no thanks!!!!
Brian
It’s not a look of disapproval. It’s a silent “YAAAAAS QUEEN!”

..so what!…she is divine…..though I know it must be frustrating there is always one thing to remember in this life considering we humans invented competition…someone has to take the short end of the stick!
