Giving gays and lesbians one more reason to purchase a few dead trees, Lambda Literary’s announced it’s nominees for the annual Lambda Literary Awards. The winners will be announced in New York on May 28th. Thanks to the economic crisis, books are selling well these days (at least in Europe), presumably because people are desperate for anything that will take them away from the grim reality of life. Oh right, this is supposed to be an upbeat post. Congratulations to the nominees! Full list after the jump.

With a banner ad for (shock!) a book, isn’t it a little of biting the hand that feeds you?

The picture is adorable.
Joel Derfner
But the photo (which I agree is totally adorable) is of GAY HAIKU, a book that was published in 2005. I naturally think GAY HAIKU is a terrific book to feature, since I wrote it, but I find the date inconsistency perplexing. Is this a subtle dig at the committee for their baffling failure to choose me as the winner in 2006?
Gregoire
Basically a list of every book with a gay theme that got published in 2009. Good lord, even the Pulitzers don’t have this many categories.

Yes, I agree about the picture. It’s adorable. I love it.
