It’s always the people you least expect…
TV actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin are currently caught up in what is being labeled the largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted.
According to a federal indictment filed this week, the actresses are among 33 other wealthy parents and Hollywood actors accused of participating in a nationwide fraud to get their kids into prestigious universities by doctoring SAT scores and falsifying academic records.
Huffman, who is married to actor William H. Macy, is accused of paying $15,000 to have someone go in and fix the incorrect answers on her daughter’s SAT test. Apparently there’s a recording of her talking to someone about the plot.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Meanwhile, Loughlin, best known for playing the endearing Aunt Becky on Full House, is accused of paying $500,000 (yes, $500,000!) to have her two daughters designated as recruits to USC’s crew team, even though neither of the girls participate in crew.
We can hardly wait for the scandal, nicknamed “Operation Varsity Blues” by investigators, to be turned into a Lifetime movie, perhaps even starring Huffman and Loughlin playing themselves.
In the mean time, here are the memes…

It’s been around for a while. Why else do you think Trump threatened to sue anyone who released his SAT scores or his transcripts?
@HarryB at q-meet.us
Interesting question

I think you have an unhealthy obsession with Trump, it’s almost like a crush you have on him very strange!

@DCguy
When there’s a story about liberal Democrats (nothing to do with Trump) bribing officials at schools to accept their children and you’re first gut reaction is “yeah but Zlumpf!!!?!?!”, it might be time to take a step back and get some fresh air
DCguy
@truthseeker
No Sweetie, see, the story is that schools have been shown to let unqualified students in. Trump threatened to sue anybody who released his SAT scores or transcripts, and the schools have verified that claim.
After Trump screamed about Obama releasing his birth certificate and transcripts, the fact that pointing out Trump is hiding his scares you so much is very very telling.

@DCguy
Not scared at all LOL. I’m laughing how nearly every story unrelated to Trump (even one involving rich liberal Democrats who all supported Hillary Clinton and have ties to Obama), results in the first thing coming to your mind is to blame Trump for the crimes these rich people committed
It’s either because you’re some paid commenter from one of those places like ShareBlue (formerly Correct the Record) or Trump just lives rent free in your head 24/7
Polaro
No @DCguy, it is related because that is how numbnuts got into Wharton.

Truthseeker, I can’t believe that you got a response without him calling you a troll or a Russian. He must really want to get into your pants.
But you did get 3 more Trumps. Apparently he was hell-bent on proving you right.
LostMyClothesAgain
I’m curious who you are. I’m highly inclined to believe our paths crossed when I lived in DC.

Trump, like millions of other privileged children of wealthy or politically connected people, have made their way into college through a variety of methods for as long as there have been universities. Usually, they are “legacies” or dad donates money to the school or a school program. Trump got into Wharton because his dad used the assistance of an admission officer at the school who was a classmate of Don’s older brother to “walk” the application through the process. This was followed up by a donation to the school.
The big problem for these guys was that they “fixed” test scores and bribed officials, not the schools. Bribing the school is legal, bribing the staff is a crime.
PanzerRider
Bribing the school (donation) in order to gain admission for your child is only legal if the school is private. To do so at a public school is very much illegal. While most of the schools in this scandal are private there are a few public institutions involved.

I can’t wait to see if anything is unearthed after the inevitable deep dive into their social media accounts. I’m hoping for something particularly self righteous about Trump bring a criminal.
Also, if you have to spend half a million bucks to bribe your kid into college, maybe it’s time to accept that they’re really not college material.
bowlingbutch
What wonderful parenting skills. Teach your children to not do the work and expect everything to be handed to you with the right bribe. No wonder so many kids feel entitled
ShiningSex
I hope they go to jail and their children get kicked out of the schools.

Talk about wealth, privilege and entitlement on steroids! As if these brats didn’t have every advantage already. And then you have one who was on IG blathering about not caring about school (she’d been scammed into USC) and another who allegedly bragged about cheating on her SATs (she’d been scammed into Georgetown). Meritocracy shmeritocracy! The guy at the center of this scandal was caught on tape saying he “helped” 700+ families, so let’s see if there are more indictments. It makes giving Harvard $2.5 million and NYU $3 million like Jared Kushner’s dad did look almost quaint, since as far as we know no one took Jared’s SATs nor he did fake being a sailing, soccer or rowing star.

So in other words, even after growing up wealthy, going to expensive private schools, having access to the best equipment money can buy as well as tutors, these parents STILL paid a fortune to cheat their kids way into school. The system isn’t just rigged, it’s got a “Do Not Enter” sign.

Okay, let me bring the topic back to LGBT relevance…
This is too bad because both actors have been in LGBT projects, which means that they’re both probably gay-positive. Felicity Huffman received wide praise for starring as a trans woman in Transamerica (2005). She won a Golden Globe Award, Independent Spirit Award, National Board of Review, and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Of note, Dolly Parton got an Oscar nomination for Best Song for Travelin’ Thru, which is another reason gays love her. Unfortunately, she’s got so many death threats from country music fans that she had to stop performing it.
Lori Loughlin starred as the confused fiancee in the groundbreaking TV movie, Doing Time on Maple Drive (1992). She had just discovered that her perfect Yalie fiance, played by hunky William MacNamara, is gay by finding a breakup letter from his ex-boyfriend. The confrontation scene is heartbreaking. The movie also starred comedian, Jim Carrey, is a rare dramatic role as MacNamara’s alcoholic brother. The movie depicts how the seemingly perfect American family is affected by the son coming out. I gave the movie a perfect 10 on IMDB. It was originally made as a pilot for a planned TV series but that unfortunately didn’t pan out.

This stuff is wrong, but, to be honest, I never knew cheating on the SAT was a crime. This is cheating on steroids, but what law did they actually break? Bribing a coach to admit your child is bad, but I’m not clear on the statute it violates. I’m sure one of you nice people will help me out. Please be snarky, or I will confuse what site I am on.
